Had my first proper run in The Beast today, 'nipping' up the M18 & M62 to Hull way to pick up some roof bars I'd bought. I am bloomin impressed with the poke, I have to say. Just sat poddling along at 70 and then easily and effortlessly up to 80-85 to overtake without even having to put my foot to the floor. This truck has more umph than I ever imagined it would. Thing is, I'm finding that driving a 4x4, I don't have the urge to start tear-arsing around anyway. I'm more than happy just sat in the 1st lane chilling. Also big thumbs up for the music system. To say it's just a factory fitted one it sure pumps out the decibels without even a hint of distortion. Should have bought one of these trucks years ago..! :thumb2

and thats the way it SHOULD be....nice one GB.:thumb2:thumb2 If you haven't already, stick a 57i K&N induction kit on (its a piece of cake to fit I promise you) and you'll get slightly better performance but another 2-3 mpg, which pays for the filter (which then lasts forever, so you don't have to pay for one every time it comes up for service) in about 9-10 tanks of fuel.
By the way, are we talking 2.7TDi or 3.0?

So how much are these filters and where do you get them from?

Just google them Jim, or ebay - they are around £56 or so.
You just unbolt the existing airbox and pipework into the inner wing (very easy), then bolt the adaptor plate on to the pipe where the airbox was, slide the cone filter on and tighten up, hey presto. Think theres a workshop download somewhere as well.
A number of folks on here have them and swear by them. If you were doing SERIOUS offroading and wading in 4-5 feet of water then you might start sucking water in, but so would the standard airbox as its at EXACTLY the same height...and water would be coming in the doors as well, so work it out for yourself!:doh
The only penalty is that you will probably then be able to hear the turbo and waste gate doing their work when under load, but its just a bit of whooshing and so forth..:thumbs
You can go the slightly cheaper route and fit a replacement K&N filter in the airbox, but the induction kit has vastly better airflow.

Oh and you might hear some people talking about oiled filters like this causing the MAF to die - its complete bullshit. Firstly, its always somebodies mates friends cousins auntie who knew somebody etc..etc.., secondly when you clean the filter (every 50,000 miles!!! or a bit less if really dusty) you wash it in the proper K&N cleaning fluid, hose it from inside to out, dry, then spray on the oil from the outside. You'd have to literally drown the bloody thing for any to get through, and even if a bit did, whats it gonna do to a piece of wire (which is all the exposed part of the MAF is)????:nenau:D

GB I swear to you, theres nothing mechanical involved. A few bolts to remove the existing airbox and the pipework from it into the wing, then four bolts and a jubilee clip to fit the new one.
Theres lots of members in your neck of the woods; I'm sure one of them would help?
