A blatant bit of scrounging here and probably one of the few times you'll see me be completely serious.

Please take a look on this link: http://www.justgiving.com/for-becca dont just write it off as "yet another"

Becca was the younger sister of a colleague and mate of mine, Andy.

She was murdered (beaten to death) last May by her partner as a result of extreme violent domestic abuse.

Andy and his brothers along with their sorrow keep questioning themselves as to why they couldnt help and what went wrong. They are not sadly in an exclusive position. Domestic abuse is usually hidden behind closed doors but still something that affects at least 1 in 4 households and deserves zero tolerance.

Beccas partner was sentenced to life in January this year with a min 15yr recomendation, that gives you an indication of the seriousness of this particular set of circumstances.

I became involved via my better half who is also a cop but suffered extremely violent abuse at the hands of her first husband. She now works enthusiastically in this field and carries out some great work.

As a positive measure Andy decided to do 53 miles of the 109 mile cleveland way as it covered several areas Becca loved to visit with her young daughter. We completed it on Saturday having taken 2 1/2 gruelling days. The cold lager at the Ship Inn was more than welcome!!!!

Anyway, Refuge is a well used highly proficient charity giving tremendous support in this area. ALL MONEY RAISED will be going to them. We scrounged for or covered ourselves all expenses for the walk. We got tremendous support from numerous companies and the football club. We have had great press (Radio & TV) coverage as well as being accompanied for the last part by Diane Youdale (better known as gladiator Jet) a lovely lady now working as a radio presenter and providing tremendous support for the event.

So please give anything you can or want to, if thats nothing no problem at all, this is nt a guilt trip. I know money is tight and I know we're always being asked to dip into our pockets but every little bit helps here.

Thank you for reading ,

Dave

Come on you lot, don't be tight....takes five minutes and could help save some poor woman taking a beating she doesn't need - or worse!........every bit helps no matter how small.
