HI Guys,

as I now have the Maverick, we want to buy a small caravan for some holidays. We want something approc 12 ft, 13/14ft maximum total length. Must have cassette toilet and shower etc, and be fairly cheap. Anyone know of any large places that sell caravans we can visit? We want a big place with lots of choice of decent cheap caravans, especially small ones...

I'd have a look in autotrader online and ebay before you go to a dealer and it'll give you an idea on what you get for your cash:thumbs

Hi, we have a 12ft caravan its old but very comfy, we have had it for years and use it
a great deal, over 20 weeks a year. You can spend a lot or a little but the enjoyment is the caravanning whatever you pay. I would look on ebay this will give you an idea of the kind of van you can
get for your budget. If you find one whos owner is giving up caravanning then they will include all the extras that a dealer will try to sell you. There are lots of bargains out there, but I would look for a good one privately and dont forget the "sniff" test, have a good sniff around, and if it dont smell right..... dont buy it...... regards bri

Thanks Bri, thats good advice, I understand what you mean about the "sniff" test !! It sounds like you have the size caravan we are looking for. As I have never towed before, whats it like to tow?? The biggest thing I have towed is a small box trailer..so no idea what effects the caravan has on the car etc...

We have had a real good look at ebay over the last few weeks, and have our eyes on a few, but smaller ones are much rarer it seems!

oh with a DUFF maf.. to speed droped to 35mph! lol

then i needed to STOP on a hill. needed LOW 4wd to more again. but soon got it sorted.

After the first mile you tend to forget its there, but of course you have to drive slower ( lower limits ) and you need more space in front for slowing down and wider cornering to avoid clipping the caravan tyre on the curb. We have just returned from a trip to Scotland, 25mpg towing, I get 29/30 solo, bri

If you fancy a trip across the M62, i would try Duxbury caravans(01772 312266,PR6 7EH).He has sold a number of vans to people i know, all of which have nothing but praise for him.As an added bonus he also has a great stock of secondhand gear at less the e-bay prices.Woodyc.
