yeah
diff lockers as standard
power stearing
manual gearbox

it would still put any modern landrover to shame
and probably keep up with a new land cruiser

was the best of its time. i have seen these sell for 10k for a nice one
and the factory tuned ones up to 40k for a minter ... only last year

they are the cream of 4wd, even the green oval brigade give them the credit they deserve and that rarely happens

:o:o:o:o im lost for words :o:o:o:o

to make a landy do what this will now will cost a thousand +
still pretty in my eyes.
anyway are you suggesting i should look for a new model with curves in all the right places and a big upkeep bill

rather than a nice mature model that requires respect and some loving and wont really want for much:confused:

So a bigger hole now:lol:lol:lol

what makes you think a more mature model would need less attention it will need more :lol:lol

and a lot of time to restore it to its former beauty after lots of abuse from previous owners:rolleyes:

sure id need patience and and time but im sure i could restore it to near perfect. although it dont sound like its that messed up now.

im not expecting to just wave my wand at it and expect it to shine. but i recon i could caress it back to feeling loved again

maybe even paint a little smile on it while im at it;)

I'm with extreme on this would love a G.

By far the most capable 4x4 out of the box and really you just don't need to mod em, bar perhaps a lift for bigger tyres, the only thing better also wears a Mercedes badge - a unimog.

3 diff locks as standard, and some even come with the full on Merc leatyer interior etc. Still about as comfortable as a Defender though - these were really built for the German army - but with Merc reliablility and spares back up (you can still buy spares for almost every Merc ever built through the normal dealer network).

My guess is someone will snap it up for the buy it now fairly soon, as G's go thats a steal, someone would pay that for the running gear to build a special.
