View Full Version : Ox Drove Byway
Any one intrested in having a drive along the Ox drove Byway in Wiltshire? :?: i drove this about 2 years ago and it was a good drive about 10 mile's plus nearby there is another byway with next to no tarmac in between anyone intrested :?:
Too far away for me I'm afraid as I work nights and the drive there and back would be too much, without making it a complete weekend.
I am getting to know some good lanes in this area and may soon know enough to stitch a few together to make a weekend of it,
i also know a good campsite, and know the owners, so may be able to get some club discount there. may organise something next spring after a bit of research over this winter of course i will hate it the research that is?????

Theres a deleted post missing above, not sure wha it used to say but I've just checked Ox Drove and almost all of it will no longer be legal to drive as of early 2006 when NERC act came into force

Have been back for a further look into this and to view a couple of more recent maps, Wayfinder appears to be out of date on this one and also doesn't name as much of Ox Drove as such as actually is (if that makes sense). EDIT ben back on and updated some of the info.
All but one section (http://www.bdcc.co.uk/XMarksTheSpot.htm?g=ST9058720204&t=ST9058720204) on the eastern end appears to have been upgraded to BOAT so is good to drive assuming there are no TRO's etc in force. Having looked at the maps and Wilts CC site, you've got so many lanes to drive down there, 815km of BOAT in Wiltshire alone, we ought to have a weekend laning down there sometime.
