I would just like to say thanks to Mav for working behind the scenes. It might just be things we don't see until things go a little wrong but Mav is working all the time. Word filters can be tricky things to set up, however it's for our benefit so carry on Mick. Sometimes we only notice the work when it goes a little wrong but the best of intention is behind the work so carry on Mav. He's even big enough to admit and appologise when something has gone wrong (see below taken from another post), no need to appologise Mav just carry on making the site go forward.

I have already apologised for messing up the word filter in another post.

I am still learning!, Shark1e was there to do it all before.

I am trying to keep up with the times of spamming for all our sakes and i put in some new words in the list and as i said i messed up for a short while.

All words starting with F and ending in G and 7 letters long were filtered out. All repaired and sorted now and any words that were replaced with "Admin warning" are now back in place correctly.

I will tidy up the post shortly so it can carry on on topic.

I don't think anyone was arguing that Mav does a good job or actually complaining about the swear filter, we were simply pointing out the problems with it as they arose and at the same time having a bit of fun with it. If no one pointed things out they would go on unnoticed.

I for one am fully aware of the difficulties of these things, as I am an administrator on another forum, where I have recently been doing the job of the main Admin due to his recent inability to get on line regularly.

Keep up the good work Mav, I don't think anyone was having a go, just having a laugh with the results of the swear filter.

I've only been in the club for a couple of months,and i think it great!! i can't imagine how much work goes on behind the scenes but i know when ever you have a Q it is answered pronto! and if you want any merchandise,it is dealt with quickly and profesionally!!

Thanks for your kind words, But i work like i do because i care about this club and its members.

Funny really, If i had not put in the wrong info into the filter it would have been upgraded for everyone’s protection and no one would have even noticed it had been done, But because i did it wrong everyone on line saw it!.
I do know it is just one of those things, but i cannot do it off line so it is live.

I don’t want this club to be pulled down in anyway because people can post what they like, and if i step in and post something people think i am a kill joy! but this is not the case i step in to stop it before it offends or upsets others, but when do i step in and say this has gone far enough?.

Some clubs don’t charge a membership and have it for free and that may be why they have thousands of members, But have you noticed the quality of some of the forums,
I for one don’t want to log on to swearing and spam offering me drugs and something for the weekend!.

I hope that what i have said above is ok,

maybe you should have your own little bit where you list the improvements tweaks youve done everyone will maybe apreciate your workload then mate, mind you think everyone found the mistake funny rather than being anoyed!

DOH ! I know mick works hard at this site, he work strange hours as well as some of us others, I just can't imagine where you find the time Mick but I know you and Sharkie put your backs into that 1st ever rally because you and we wanted this club to take off. I think it has, god only knows who doe's all the other jobs around your house etc but I for one would help out more if asked for any help ( not that I get much time of late.

I must say I agree with all the above :smile: When I 1st joined the club I could'nt post anything or get all the forums. Me being a -nerd- & totaly useless with computers Mav you spent about an hour trying to sort it & me out & as i've said in the past & will say it again I owe you a pint aleast for all your help you have given me since I joined 8) The filter going belly up made me laugh as it remined me that things do play up in this funny old world & it's not just me it happens too :roll:

We are members of quite afew clubs with our Toyota MR2 all over the world, alot are alot bigger then this one..BUT none are as welcoming as here or as the same high level of help you all give.. OHH then theres Mav! nice to see that being the top man here as not made him sit on a high horse looking down on us like most clubs we are in.

well, i have looked at a few other forums but i am just not interested, the only one i contribute too is this one! We have even bought another T2 'warts and all' just because of the club!

I know the club has occasional issues, just like the T2's in it :lol: but they all get sorted out in the end!

I think the ocaisonal lively debate on issues is a healthy thing!

keep up the good work and I think we are in 99.9% agreement on the keeping swearing out and avoiding ofensive content!

and at the end of the day nobody's is perfect Mav (not even HB :lol: no offence intended) so dont worry about it!!!
