View Full Version : hi from the sunny north west
Hi I have just joined, my name is Paul and I have had an a T spec X Trail from new in summer 04, so far its got close to 100k miles on the clock. In the early years it consumed turbo chargers like there was no tomorrow, I think I'm on my 3rd or 4th !
Its also consumed an intercooler but apart from that its been good until today when I been told my by very efficient local garage that the rear sub frame bushes are shot and according to the local Nissan dealer you cannot buy replacement bushes, you have to buy a new sub frame at £800 plus vat, plus an eye watering amount of labour costs to remove the old sub frame and fit the new one :frown:
Does anyone know of a more economical way to fix the worn sub frame bushes ??????????
hi paul, welcome to the club, i can't help you but im sure someone will help, alot of good advice to be had from the lads. :thumb2

Welcome Paul:thumb2
£800.00 for bushes seems steep - Can you have a go at doing them yourself? How are you with a set of spanners:D

Hi pb2 & welcome to the club:thumb2:D:thumb2:D It seems very strange that the whole sub frame has to be changed just for the sake of a couple of bushes:confused:TBH I would think by now someone will be making replacement bushes as the X Trail has been out for so long:rolleyes:
Hi pb2
is this what you need

Welcome from sunny norfolk:thumbs
good luck with the bushes:)
Thanks to everyone and especially Tony. I will call them up tomorrow and hopefully it will be good news, that said even if they do supply replacement sub frame bushes, Nissan UK are still quoting 10.2 man hours to remove and replace a sub frame and then there would be the cost of the bushes (there is more than one size to a X Trail) and then I guess there is some sort of special tools to remove the old bushes and refit the new ones so its still going to be a costly job but hopefully less than the current forecast £1,400ish

Guys its not a question of getting the spanners out or getting my hands dirty, having spent 15 years being sent all over the planet to do heavy engineering jobs a bit of graft or dirt is nothing new to me.
The challenge is so far I have not found a single person who has any idea where to get the replacement bushes,TRB do not list them or know of anyone who might, Nissan UK are adament that they cannot be bought and thats the crux of this - I need to find a supplier. I have also tried Milners with no joy.

OH MY.. mabe some one need to poke him!
I have given it my best, I even spoke direct with Superpro and the answer all around is a big fat NO. My gut feel is in a about a year replacement bushes will be available but I cannot wait a month let alone a year.
On Wednesday the car goes in and my bank balance shrinks !
