Got caught out, only discovered at the W/E that the Mrs 3Ltr test runs out on Thursday, the garage normally notify me well in advance, this by the way is RayF's old motor, still going strong, jet washed it off found a couple of minor issues but worst was a small thin bit of the OSR cill, tapped it with a hammer and produced a hole about 2.5 inches by 1.5 inch, cut it back to good metal and will weld it up tomorrow ready for test on Wednesday, incidentally Ray treated this motor with waxoil and it shows, there were thick clumps of the stuff in the cill so by and large it has done its job, but to make sure I have cut an access hole in the top of the cill so when done I can give it a good spray inside, Rick

Good luck Rick but I’m sure it’ll fly through the test.
I got a can of Dynatrol Cavity Wax with the long tube that sprays 360 degrees. I removed the kick trims on top of the sills and poked the tube through the holes. Pushed the tube as far as it would go so I’m sure I got good coverage inside the cavities.
Just bought a Lanoguard kit to do the underside, hopefully keep it protected. Mind you I don’t take the Mav out in the salt over winter, it lives under the carport with batteries disconnected.

The main problem with all of this kind of treatment is the fact that the surface of the metal is already contaminated with crap and therefore only has limited effect, Rick

If it’s clean to begin with it helps. I think it only delays the inevitable, certainly the thinner waxoils tend not to seal moisture in like the thicker stuff does.

All good for another year and no advisories, but I will be needing a fuel tank soon as the rust around the seam is getting bad and the bug is also living in this expanded seam making it almost impossible to eradicate, I need another tank as whilst I could attempt a repair it could prove unrealistic and she cannot do without her motor, so makes sense to obtain a replacement and have time to do any work on it that may/will be required with swap over requiring minimum down time, Rick
