Hello all,I have been using 2005 Y61 since September 2019 as main vehicle in my fence contracting business.I started having problems starting the old bus at start of 2021,it deterioated from usal instant start to longer and longer cranking to finally refusing to fire.
Tried myself to no avail to rectify and took it up to Argyll diesels in Eastkilbride who I have used for other vehicles and would highly reccomend. They rebuilt injector pump and is back to first class starting.
Apart from regular servicing @9000m I have renewed all steering links, set of Terrain tamer shocks and springs along with most of the bushes on chassis. All back seats are out and a platform built for tools etc.
Looking forward to a bit of craic ,seems like a surge in Scottish Patrols with 'Newbie from north Scotland' recently joining!:clap

Hi and welcome mate, I guess you tried the glow plugs first, rather than the pump, anyway glad you got it sorted , Rick

Assuming not an import 2005 will be a ZD30 bud

Hi Rick,it is a 3.0 engine. New glow plugs were fitted before first winter when I had not long bought it.Deterioated very slowly re.cranking and started to cut out under load, wee bit embarassing passing a couple of artics on the 74 when it died,by the time I had let throttle off and back on they were nearly giving me some help up the brae! spent nearly 6months changing filters, filter heads, fuel lines to tank ,pickups in the tank, injectors once I found some, all to no avail!
Pump was then over hauled and has ran perfectly since. Niall

The 3 has a VP pump as opposed to the 2.7 which has a VE pump, now the VE is pretty much bullet proof but the VP operates at around double the pressure (4000 psi) plus it has the output regulator as an electric valve, biggest load of crap I have ever seen, so make sure you only feed it pure clean fuel or it will fail again pretty dam quick, Rick
