Hello 4x4 Enthusiasts!

My name is Shawn and I picked up my 1994 Nissan Mistral (Terrano 2 R20) 7 years ago from a gent in the interior of BC who got it from a guy who imported this gem into BC sometime in the mid-2000s. I picked it up with 168000 km and it's now up to 205000 km. It's in pretty decent shape and I would like to keep it going for another decade.

I've recently purchased a set of summer and winter tires with the hopes of putting some more miles on the SUV. Any suggestions for getting a little more power out of it on the highway would be appreciated!:)

Also, tips for maintenance and upgrades are also of interest. Feel free to post links to previous discussions that I should take a look at please!

Seeing as most of you are from the UK, I thought I would post some pictures of what we get in BC, CANADA. This is from my 2017 trip on Vancouver Island to the west coast. I am beginning to understand that what we call "going to find a logging road", you all might call "green-laneing". But I may be mistaken.

This was after a quick climb up a hill. This R20 can really move - like billy goat fast - up these trails. Too bad it takes longer than 20 seconds to get over 100km/hr on the highway.

This is what I woke up to at 6am. We drove up the road at night, in the dark and really had no idea what to expect in the morning.

Wow what scenery, 94 mistral that will be auto then, looks clean, plenty of snorkel kits out there, intercooler is not so easy as pre ECU so you would need to modify pump settings and introduce a turbo pressure sensor some how, but many on here able to help out with the more tech stuff, Rick

Thanks Rick! Yes, it is an auto transmission. Shifter on the floor for 4H and 4L. I think I need to re-insulate that center console bit. It throws out heat like crazy, which sucks in the summer because the A/C is non-existent. Anyone else find these things get super hot?

Welcome along Shawn buddy :thumb2

That last shot of the sun streaming through the treeline is stunning

In terms of getting a bit more power, I'm sure I've read somewhere that you can retrofit an intercooler and intake manifold from a TDi onto a TD to give it some extra beans :nenau

A few of the older lads will be along soon to either shoot me down or confirm.

The truck looks in great shape and I wish you all the best with it. We love a bit of green laning over here, me and a few of the guys try to get out a few times as year but this year has been a no no

Being able to find places like these is why I fell in love with this 4by

Ooo.. I have already been skimming the Terrano/Maverick pages. Elty's Terrano transformation project is astounding. Wish my grandfather had shared his knowledge and equipment for welding with me. A fellow gearhead friend in Victoria where I live has suggested rock sliders on the sides and a bull-bar on the front and back is on my wishlist. I'm afraid adding any extra weight to this little guy tho will really slow it down unless I can get it more power.

Thanks for the warm welcome! This year has been interesting for sure, although I did manage to get it out in August along the edge of the Cariboo ranges.
