Since I joined the club, havnt had much time to progress with my y61 unfortunately as work commitments and house moving all ways slow everything down, but now hopefully my old y61 known by my kids as big blue might make an appearance on the lanes by the end of the summer at last. But with the rust still fighting back it's going to be hard. Hopefully there's a pic with this to show you all what I'm up against. That's right no lower section at all. Chassis's still good, at the front only. Back looks like hell but I have plan for that. :banghead

Watching intently!!!! I have the same job to tackle on mine!!!! I have about the same level of rust and rot too but the rest of the truck is fine, must be problematic areas on these Y61's

Good luck with it and look forward to plenty more pics as you fix and would be great to see you out on the lanes :naughty :thumb2

Been looking forward to getting back to you all, and most importantly driving some great 4x4 destinations. The pic you see there is a week ago, the welders up a running and there's steel going in as we speak. So the front should come together soon. Just want this running before the winter is here. Fingers crossed.

I have just had my front panel replaced, seems that's a popular spot for the tin rot then.

Like your truck, wish mine could be salvageable like that. My chassis body mounts have even met there maker. So re-buildwork will be what fits works. This pic will make you cring.

I have to admit I would be plunged into despair if that was mine!

That said back in 1965 I had a Renault Dauphine that was one "District Nurse"owner from new with 20k miles on the clock the interior was as new the bodywork was grim.

I had new inner & outer sills & outriggers on her all four wings, new front headlamps respray she gleamed like new all undersealed. Two weeks later I rolled her end over end driving like a pratt as I was late for work one Sunday morning.

Luckily I was fully insured but I learnt a valuable lesson - that was the last accident that was my fault!

I still slow down when I drive past the scene of the accident on Radbourne Lane, Mickleover - the Hawthorn hedge I took out has now recovered!

I feel your pain with the rot issues.
I recently had to cut out and fabricate the rear spring holders and part of the chassis on my terrano.
Also over the years iv'e owned it the whole of the rear floor pan has been replaced along with inner and outer sills,inner arches,parts of the bulk head,front floor and inner wings.
Not much left of the original metal work:lol:lol
Quite a few times iv'e thought about giving up and sending it to the scrap yard in the sky:eek::eek:
