I know this is a 4 x 4 forum and if what I say causes offence then please mods delete it, but had a bit of an eye opener today when I went to my local steel supplier, and asked him why he had so much good steel in his skips and when he told me it was down to CE requirements I asked for details, so when he buys in stock in 7 Mtr lengths it has to be allocated a CE number and if he only needs say 6 Mtr from that item then that is allocated the CE number, the off cut, perfectly useful but now does not have a number so cannot be sold on, hence in the skip, if anybody wants to try and tell me that the EU does us any good I will say on your bike, the sooner we exit from that bunch of scammers the better but our leaders are totally out of control, for example the MP that proposes that no new builds in 2025 will not be allowed to have gas CH is in control of a company that is promoting hydrogen as the way forward, yea right scamming barstuard, going to make billions from his own crap legislation, rant over, Rick

This is one of the reasons we buy in pre cut lengths of box section and tube at work.
Have the means to cut our own but like you say the off cut cannot be used on other jobs if material certs are required.
Its just madness:eek:

In a world where we are trying to eliminate waste, this just seems like utter madness! :doh

Strange that no one has commented on the barstuard making legislation that will make him a billionaire, to the expense of Joe public, Rick

Ironically, Suz and I were having a deep and meaningful chat in the car yesterday, and I was saying how we can't trust anything they say/do, as it is all in their own interests, and how they are basically controlled by the big companies, not the people who voted them in. That just proves my point.

There are so many holes in all their "environmental policies" when you actually take out the "knee jerk" reaction and look at the bigger picture.

Probably better not discussing politics on this forum.

Point taken Rick and at the end of the day we all know each other well enough not to fall out.

For what it’s worth I do believe the EU is not all negative, it’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. However, my point of view is that we are far better not just being part of it but being at the centre of it. I think the EU is blamed when not guilty. I went to the pub tonight, first time in abiut two months and was listening to a brexit conversation. This particular bloke was saying that the french had stuffed sheep in fields so that the satellites coming over could see the farm had lots of animals and therefore got more money.

The original campaigns were floored, both sides blatantly lied. The electorate were not given all the information or implications. There was a lot of myths spread by outside bodies as well as internal organisations.

The media and politicians are great at scare mongering about what will and won’t happen when brexit does or doesn’t happen.

At the end of the day it doesn’t matter what you or I think say or do, we are insignificant. The only time that we matter to mps is when they want electing.

The one thing that is certain about brexit whatever date it is or isn’t. The sun will still rise the morning after. :clap

What size steel? Maybe it's to stop dodgy steel stockists from selling cheap chinese dangerous steel as good steel and thus stopping it from ending up in buildings and structures.

I shall refrain from saying too much here, except I'd like to know the provenance and quality of steel that I'm buying, or indeed of many things that I buy.
The EU has done far more good than bad, our Govt appears to be excelling at bad and selfishness over good.
I'm not sure what you local hydrogen promoting MP blocking gas CH has to do with the EU. That's a bent Member of (British) Parliament who is, erm, British... :lol
The level of division and hatred that Brexit has enabled is embarrassing, the level of racism that Brexit and the likes of Farage have made acceptable is deplorable.
Democracy is something to behold and democracy includes accepting the will of others, even if it goes against your desire.
See, I told you I wouldn't go on....
