Hi.
I am new to the forum, I’ve just spent the last 5 years building my dream overland expedition patrol.
Apart from needing to get my rear diff guard slightly altered, my build is pretty much complete.
ARB Sahara front bumper with fog light kit, Light Force Striker 170 spots, and a warn 9.5xp winch.
ARB front recovery eye.
3” old man emu suspension lift kit, shocks, springs and steering damper.
Hell Ride heavy duty extendable upper and lower rear control arms.
Hell Ride heavy duty extendable rear panhard.
Heavy duty extendable front panhard from Australia.
Heavy duty extendable drag link and tie end rods, from Australia.
Extended anti roll bars.
Full set of 6mm aluminium ASFIR under body protection from UAE.
6mm Raptor 4x4 front diff guard.
6mm Hardcase 4x4 rear diff guard from Australia.
160 litre ARB Long Ranger fuel tank.
Marine grade 12v rewire.
ARB dual battery tray, with 2x Oddessey batteries and REDARC intelligent charge control CPU with a T-Max display.
Aftermarket electronic cruise control, using OEM steering wheel switches.
Heavy duty steel rock sliders.
Custom built rear winch bumper with warn 9000xd, rear LED fogs and rear wheel swing arm.
2 x Albright solenoids.
2x wireless remotes for winches, normal wired controller, and cab mounted Durite momentary switches.
Both winches run 100ft plasma rope.
8 point internal to external protection and performance roll cage. Instillation required removal of original electric sunroof, lazer cut panel chemically bonded to the roof and a Landrover defender twist knob sunroof put in place.
Lazer lamps T16 and 2x ST4 LED mounted on the front of external cage and 2x ST2 LED on the back.
Rear ladder.
Safari Snorkle for GU4
Extended breather lines for both diffs, gearbox and transfer box.
Outback extreme heavy duty clutch, with single mass flywheel.
AVM manual locking front hubs.
DBA off-road brake discs.
EBC yellow stuff pads.
Full length stainless steel exhaust.
Brand new original GQ patrol inclinometer/altimeter fitted in the cab, with backlight switch.
JDM only Nissan patrol optional articulated rear LED boot pillar light that can be moved to the rear door in a secondary position.
Nissan navara auto dimming rear view mirror.
Steelmate tyre pressure and temperature monitoring.
7” pioneer apple car play dvd/stereo with pioneer rear view cam, Brodit phone holder and hands free mike.
6x Morel speakers.
Garmin handheld GPS with hardwired power cable.
I’m sure I’m probably missing something!
I used to be heavily involved in the production of action sports features, and am keen to get my camera out again and start working with Patrol owners.
What I need to know is there any appetite for showing off people’s builds and personal modifications?
Thank you in advance,
Kind regards.
Ross

Wow that is some list, I like, where are you planning on going with this beast? only thing I can think of that is missing is a Lokka for the front diff, what engine is in yours? I am guessing it is the 3Ltr, Rick

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the welcome. Yeah 3.0 zd30 and it’s on it’s second engine!
Nearly finished is what I say to the fiancé ;)
There’s always another mod! I’ve built it for a trip down through Marrocco taking in the Sahara on the way to Mauritania, then back up through Europe.
I would also like to take it to the Artic circle to witness the Aurora Borealis.
I’m hoping it doesn’t stay a family car for too much longer, as soon as my current tyres need replacing I’ll go to my steel rims and get some bigger rubber.
Kind regards.

Ross

Welcome mate. Your truck sounds amazing, You need to get some pictures up for us to drool over :lol

Look up NADS mods for the Patrol, sounds like you have had engine issues which surprises me being a late model.

Also look up the build threads on here, there are some really good trucks that might like being pictured, best thing to do is come to one of the meets and see them in person :thumb2

I have changed and inverted the rear light mountings recently so the work lights are less protruding above the cage, this is also before the long ranger tank went in. If any patrol heads are interested in an aluminum ASFIR 6mm fuel tank guard, I have one plus many more patrol bits I will post I the relevant section.

There is a different language in Cornwall or are we talking back in Norman Times ?

Can you ask for you V5's & driving licence in Cornish ?

You will be telling me next the Tin Mines are going to open after Brexit and Cornish Pasties will no longer be sold outside your county.

Hahaha no offence taken, language is still alive and kicking. We also get to put Cornish as listed nationality on our passports and nearly all official documents offer the option to not call ourselves English........no offence meant or implied to anyone on the other side of the Tamar :thumb2

Nice looking Trol bud :thumb2

I used to have a modded Y61 myself although she was a bit more rough and ready in appearance :lol

Now have a Y60 4.2 shorty that I would love to take overlanding someday soon.

Like Newquay, done Mousehole Portleven Lands end etc but Tintagel and surrounding area is our favorite, many happy hols there as a child and an adult, I remember when you could tell where you were in the country by the accent of the locals, sadly disappearing now, Rick

I’m a massive fan of the 4.2 Y60!
I thought I was nearly there, however after becoming a member and reading up on the Nads conversion, and Jay666d’s build I’ve been inspired to carry on just a little further :lol

Your Trol looks great... What a list of Mods! :naughty

I hope that we get to see it at a meet sometime soon! :thumbs

Hi mate, epic work on your build. it’s a great thread and amazing source of information.
I am frothing at the prospect of talking patrols and mods with other owners at a meet sometime!
alas Cornwall is awash with defenders :nenau

Morning Ross
We were in Mullion just last weekend for my birthday.
I could well be your nearest Patrol owning Neighbour.
Great project vehicle by the way!!
I’m interested in your fuel tank guard too.

Morning Davey,
That’s a nice looking truck yourself! My fiancé is from the Lizard peninsular, and we both went to mullion school, nice area.
As you asked, I’ll give you first refusal on the guard. It’s currently up at Devon4x4 along with my original tank, I’ll try to pick it up in the next couple of weeks and get you some pics.
Kind regards.
