Considering buying a 2016 Navara to supplement a Patrol.

Having had a look around on the internet the insurance quotes for these cars is considerably higher then for a Patrol. The cheapest quote I had was just shy of £1100 for fully comp insurance but without legal protection etc.

It seems that the Navara is classed as a Van and not a car like the Patrol is. Anybody got a recommendation for a good insurance company, ideally a bit below those prices.

I have my driving license for 20 years, no convictions or claims in the last 5 years and 13 years NCD.

Many thanks.

Try Dan at Adrian Flux, he should be able to sort you out, haven't heard one person come back on here that's not been happy with the discount he's been able to sort.

He's a member on here too, think his username is Dan@AdrianFlux or something like that :thumb2

Watch out for the chassis problems!!!!!

Thanks for that Banshee, greatly appreciated.

I will give Dan a ring and see what he can do.

If all the information out there is to be believed then the Navara I have my eye on is not affected by the chassis issue as it is a NP300. However I will do some more digging but I think that model is to young to show issues like that at the moment. Which off course does not mean that it is not affected by it, just that the rust hasn’t gotten that far yet on a two year old car.

That price seems OTT to say the least, it would put me off for sure.Have you tried any sites that are not on the comparison ones such as Direct Line ?

Macabethiel,

Yes, tried several sites and the lowest I can get it to is £1100! I pay £180 for my Patrol and just under £340 for my Audi, so this was quite a surprise to say the least.

It has put me off buying any pick-up as those prices are ridiculous. Especially taking into account that the £1100 was basic comp insurance with no legal cover, no windscreen cover etc.

Direct line wanted just shy of £1600.

I need a car which pulls a 3 tonne trailer as we have no access for lorries to our house and everything needs to be collected by trailer. Otherwise I am looking at a Land Rover Discovery but not keen on that at all.

I was recommended these guys for our modified cars for the last 4 years....

So far I can't fault them. Not had to claim, but changing the car over Christmas, and they really could not have been any more helpful, even sorting out the transfer on Sunday the 23rd December, so I couple pick the car up on the 24th, and gave me a 14 day cover note for the old car so I could keep it on the road for a few days.

I am insuring a 15 reg Isuzu Dmax for less than half what you have been quoted so you should be able to get a better deal. I would have to go check for an exact figure but it is covered for my tools & towing etc which it does a lot of.
