I was thinking about, and mentioned to Zac that I had an idea that could mean an SWB could be used as a camper. I was thinking about something like this mounted on the front seat(s).
I've just stumbled across this which is essentially the idea.

I'm not sure on height whether you'd need two hinged sections, but I like the idea of having a bit of protection from flying objects when the bed is in its upright position.
No loss of rear luggage space and a nice flat bed base for nights away. Storage space under the bed.
I don't see why it couldn't be fitted to the rear seats of the LWB either
A pretty neat idea.

And thanks for sharing... I'm always looking for ways to make mine into a stealth camper type vehicle with space saving ideas!

This one is a nice folding Idea, but the only problem I see with it, is that it doesn't fold with a mattress or foam on which means you will have to find a place to store that too! (Unless I'm missing something?)

No. you're not missing anything. A mattress would be needed and need to be stored somewhere.

It's a good idea and doesn't look too hard to fabricate one yourself.
As for the mattress a single self inflating mat like what I use for camping would do the trick.
Rolls up into a nice compact bag when in storage.
