Yes John she is back to her normal self today.

Well smoke test done today, and I have to say I am well pleased, these pics are all on speed one and as you can see there is a lot of smoke but no over-spill on the canopy, in practice I would expect them to use speed 2 or 3 and when needed they can use 5,at this setting the smoke went straight up to the filter

This unit gave hassle as pressure switch pulled in when fan on but did not release when fan off so did not cut gas as it should, much head scratching till I got meter on it with Sarah playing with controls while I monitored in the roof space, will fit a pressure switch from a boiler tomorrow

Well worked all day today, completed boxing over new soil pipe from new WC plus covered it in plastic sheet, 16 feet long, wall paper guys were in with some very nice paper and should be done tomorrow, pics on Monday, opening day for VIP's is Sunday 12th, I still have 4 complete WC's & basins to fit plus connect up CH & cellar chiller to connect/fit plus of course guide other trades as to what to do, but we will get there, we have a good group of guys and girls, and I am very pleased with progress, bearing in mind we have not been working to any sort of plans/drawings, it has all come out of the owners head on a daily basis with multiple changes of direction, so to be just one week over the 8 weeks estimated is very good especially considering we did the roof project which was programmed for after opening which in itself took Dave and his 3 lads one whole week, so yes I am a happy bunny, worn out but happy, Rick

Day off today, well almost, burnt all the rubbish dumped here from the job 3 van loads, did not take long, my fire basket is made from scaffold put locks (5ft square) and cut a marble slab for a mate on my wet diamond cutter, apart from that did nothing, Rick

Not a very good day Monday, Dave and his lads are digging up the front part of the Pavement own'd by the shop in order to put block paving in, so he lifted the drain inspection cover to find the system was backed up, so soon as I arrived I had to shoot off home to get some drain clearing kit, 2 hours later after clearing the blockage and extracting some blackened stone debris from the interceptor, sent one of the lads to bung some bog roll down a loo and flush it, after 4 attempts and no paper showing we lifted one of the internal covers and sent a dustbin of water down, this bought forth lots more black stone amongst other more normal drain debris, used the gully scoop to extract this from the interceptor and did it again, and a much lesser amount of rubbish came forth, so not a lot of plumbing done that day.

Today I wish I could say it was better but alas no, first I dropped my mobile in a WC, retrieved it quick pronto, and extracted the battery, this evening I have dried it out and it works but not quite as it should so will be looking for another tomorrow, about an hour after this episode the Chef asked me if the combi/steam oven was all hooked up I said yes fire it up, all went well for about 20 mins then lecy was heard calling my name, and he said it went bang and although heating the fan was not running, so off with its side for some checks, looks like the fan motor has fried the main board, not good, ever feel you would have been better off staying in bed, I've had better days, will get some pics tomorrow as the rest of it is coming along nicely, Rick

I feel for you big time... I have had days like that, and you feel by the end, you are actually further back from the end point than when you started the day.

Hope Today makes up for it.

This is the garden hose connected to the over pressure discharge on a sealed system boiler, it terminates inside the boxing directly over the disable WC :doh should of added that the condensate waste was of electrical conduit with screw on covers for the corners, wondered why there were water stains down the wall !

This presented a bit of head scratching, the hole in the top is far too big, so needed a rust proof large washer, hunted the merchants, (more wasted time) nothing decent found, local DIY store had these carpet thingies, with a bit of a mod they proved ideal

solarman216
08-11-2017, 22:27
This is the result, a good fitting washer that will not rust, all 4 basins saw this treatment

Raised seating area, much better today, feel progress has been made, but not without its hick ups, one of the bar beer dispensers could not be tightened, when I looked, found the Ali bracket had been broken, new has to be ordered :doh and we found a serious Co leak in the cellar, not sure if it is poor installation or faulty equipment, but the installers have to fix it pronto, will we make it? yes we will even if it means extra hours, I want my free meal Sunday evening, Rick

Ah OK I took these pics on my phone, as left camera at home and while I thought I set it to low res it was still on high and pics came in at over 4 meg, but tried loading this one and seems there is an auto resizing thingy on here, well done whoever is responsible it makes things a lot easier.

Well this is another example of the standard of plumbing by the previous people, inch and half pipe into a two inch fitting and finished with mastic but as pipe had moved was not good, also the other hole was where the boiler condensate waste discharged, with no trap

OK so will try not to use phone camera any more as I now have a cricked neck as I am sure most of you have, unless Banshee can sort this issue, which I think is a very important one, to be able to upload without complicated resizing has to be worth working on, Rick

Doors to wine rack, just needing bottom track.

So last day tomorrow, I have two rads to connect and boiler to sort, lads have lots little jobs like loo roll holders/door stops etc, lecy still has a few bits to sort, I.T guy is still busy (has probs with his cat 5/6 cables/terminations) beer people have broken bar pump bracket, but sorted the Co leaks, I left tilers with slow setting mix for front "BEARS" logo in mosaic, hope they sorted that, steam oven has been dispatched for repair as it is under warranty, still no sign of the shop sign, promised tomorrow, however we will open on Sunday, Rick

solarman216
11-11-2017, 21:04
Shop front, block paving done but entrance not so, I told the tilers that if that cement based product had not cured by now then it is not going to and will need scrapping up and new applied, did they listen? ! they said they will finish it tomorrow, shop sign did not show up either

Got a call about 5pm to say all the fryers are not working, so got changed and departed early in my car instead of the wife's, turn's out that the thermostats had not been calibrated so although working the temperature was far too low, easy to sort, remove the knobs and turn spindle by hand until the burner shuts down at the correct temperature, Ah but new problem still below temperature the pilots went out and could not be re lit, this is because the overheat stats are cutting out at too low a temperature, so bypassed them and got two of the 4 going, so we did get our chips, this is a pic of the Menu

Dave trying to break a lobster claw, the tool supplied was nothing like big enough so Dave resorted to using as a hammer instead, so yes a good meal, quite a few teething problems, not leased the fryers, but other issues as well like the coffee machine and till do not work together, will get them sorted, Rick

ps shall I finish here or do you want to see the odd bits left?
