A couple of years ago when our Merc was having an oil change I saw what looked like some surface rust on the front suspension cross member and made a mental note to sort it with some Waxoyl etc A.S.A.P.
I made a note on my Home Made Excel Service Spread Sheet (I have a page for each year to show work done, mileage, costs etc)) to get it Waxoyled before it spread. Life being what it is I carried the note forward from the 2015 page to 2016 and then again as I had not got round to it carried the note into 2017.
As the wife was at work this morning and I was feeling unusually energetic I decided I would jack the car up, remove the bottom engine cover, wire brush the lightly rusted areas and spray with Black Waxoyl. I was expecting the worse when I removed the cover.
Jacked up the car, had a Coffee Break, removed the bottom engine cover, searched for 15 minutes for my new LED work lamp. I was both pleased and disappointed that there was naff all rust. In my head it needed doing two years ago in reality it could have waited another 10 years!
