Hi guys and gals.
We've all been reading how Rustic is battling with his health, and a while back, suggestions were made about having a meet somewhere in Uncle Rustic's neck of the woods. (Staffordshire)
I'm posting this to "Rally the Troops" and organise a mini meet with the hope Richard and Roz will be able to visit and say hi.
I understand it's holiday season and not everyone can make the same date due to holidays and work commitments, but could I ask you all to respond with possible dates and we'll see what unfolds. :thumbs
To Rustic.
We would appreciate your input too for possible meeting points and dates.
Obviously you are under no obligation to attend. We a very aware of your circumstances and if, on the day, you cannot make it, we totally understand.

I'm self employed, away 4th - 10th Sept, sort out a date, I'll make it if I can.
May I suggest we don't get over complicated (like the last time we suggested this) and just meet "round the corner" from Rustic at lunchtime for a brew/picnic/cuppa for as long as people wish to stay.

Just had a thought. The 2nd is JUST before most schools go back, anyone with children may be reluctant to get involved that weekend, PLUS, I suspect traffic across the country will be pretty bad for the same reason. Would end of Sept be more suitable once things have calmed down a bit?

Just had a thought...
...when Zippy was mucking about and pretending to leave he put up a poll.
Would it be a good idea to put up poll with a selection of weekends/days, maybe four (ish), and take a poll of which would suit members best, and then we go with the most popular?
We could spend the next year bandying days back and forth, just thought this could push the matter forward.

The 2nd and/or 3rd Sept seems to be favourable atm. Apologies to emjaybee but thinking about it, there must be a hospital close by:hide::lol
There's also no reason why we can't arrange another meet a month or 2 later. It's not a once only thing. We need to pull fingers out, as a group, and have regular meets. We all seem to get on, don't we?, and you never know what's around the corner.

I'd be up for a bit of mountaing biking but it's a good few years since I've used the MTB, and it's only a hard tail with 100mm up front. And it's only a 26". And I don't do air......
If the camping at Cannock allows barbecues and open fire it could be perfect. :thumbs
Hi Guys, I am watching this thread with great interest, I have asked if one of my treatments can be put back to clear the weekend, but as I have always said, things change on a daily basis.
I have not driven for several months, and neither has the Mav been out for a run, on Monday we started out on a trip to Crewe to see the wife's sick mum, but we got as far as Rugeley, and we had to turn back as I was in a lot of pain.
On Monday we had a stair lift installed, and yesterday a lift and recline mobility chair arrived, and today a wide over the chair table arrived, which I adapted to have one 13amp lead to a twin 13 amp socket and upto 4USB charge points.
So I can now go to bed, get out of the chair without relying on my wife hauling me about, which is not doing my shoulder any good at all, and is paying it's toll on her too.
Things are not looking good, we had a few days on the boat last week, which were ace, and I managed to build a rabbit fence and gate with my grandson, one of those memory making days, which I need to do.
My son and family arrive from Bahrain on Friday, stopping for two weeks, another reason that I want to put back my treatment for a week, as it knocks me about.
My Sister and Husband are dropping in tomorrow, on their way back from seeing their son and family.
I still have a few loose ends, and a few deep conversations with the immediate family to have. I am not sure if I have said, but the oncologist thinks I could be lucky and have just over 12 months, but to be fair, things are deteriorating quite fast, and I am increasing the pain killers every few weeks, and taking additional morphine as required and certainly before any car journeys.
We signed our latest wills yesterday, so, that safeguards some of our assets.
We are trying to keep most of it in the family lol. Tax man has had enough from me already lol...
Not everyone gets the chance to put their house in order, this has not been easy.
I do hope we can meet a few of you guys, most of you have been very supportive, and I have had some excellent advice, some in the early hours too lol
Many thanks,
Uncle Rustic

With any luck the decreased physical strain due to the new equipment may mean you are in less pain. I'm not sure how I feel commenting on your condition mate so on a lighter note...you should hold a forum raffle :D:thumb2 £10 a strip and whoever wins gets 30 mins driving the mav :lol its a win win, you get some cash and the mav stretches it's legs for a bit :lol:lol

Hi all. I have found a possible campsite for Saturday night but just waiting for confirmation. http://www.fullbrookfarm.co.uk/
As for a meeting place I've found the carpark at Castle Ring Monument which has a pub nearby http://www.theparkgatepub.com/
I assume there could be other carparks around the area of Beaudesert Park?
Theres also a bed and breakfast nearby if anyone requires one. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tuktawa.co.uk%2F&source=maps&cd=1&usg=AFQjCNGviEa3mizTBeWqCFdFZ4vrvSo-Iw&ved=1i%3A1%2Ct%3A3443%2Ce%3A0%2Cp%3AbOOeWcmYO8ONUa OzvrgC%3A615

That Fullbrook Farm is about 10 miles from the pub and B&B.
This site in Cannock Chase is only a couple of miles away. (http://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/campsites/uk/staffordshire/rugeley/cannockchase?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_content=CannockChase&utm_campaign=google_places), it does look as if it'll be full of rules and probably no campfires! prices are about £10:00 per person but minimum stay appears to be 2 nights...

You are correct. I've been a member of the club 15 odd years and usually use them for our main caravanning hols.
It is minimum of 2 nights and would cost me £21.60 as a member.
I am totally overwhelmed by everyone's enthusiasm to this event.
Castle ring, I know well, Park gate too but not been in there for a while.
I have pushed back my infusion a week, so it is after the weekend event... otherwise it knocks me about for the next 4 days, so chances of me making this meet is in the 90% +++

Received this email from Forest View Park, Rugeley. Thoughts guys?
Hello Ian,
Our rally field is available that weekend but I must stress that we do not have toilets on site. We only accept tents if you have your own facilities - a caravan would suffice or a toilet tent.
The Camping & Caravan site at Wandon is much closer to Castle Ring and they have facilities there. We are not a C & CC CS any more, we are now independent. If you would like to use our rally field please advise.
Regards
Pat Turner
Do folks have means of doing number 1s and 2s:nenau

No there's no showers. I'm prepared to slum it for 1 night. They require tent users to have a chem toilet and tent though, which I do not have.

I'm good for a Friday or Saturday arrival. If I get down on Friday and we stay at this toiletless/showerless site I might bring the bike down for a Saturday bimble on The Chase. :clap

Woah. Check T-Doug out with the swerve ball!
Aiming for the expensive luxury option, and a yorkshire man to boot.:lol
So we have 2 options available.
1. Rally field at forest view park. No dunny or showers.
2. Cannock Chase camping and carravanning site. Luxury dunny and showers but min 2 night stay.
Both sites are a stone's throw from each other too
I'm with The Don. Easy like a Sunday morning. But, if I'm paying for 2 nights, I'll be there Friday. :D

Let's all agree and get together to compare ....... stuff :naughty:lol
These can be had for £35.00.

The main camping field is behind a hedge so could we let her know when we arrive if she doesn't see us. :naughty

In the the same area there is a Home Bargains type place, Lloyds Chemist, Aldi as you enter the area, plenty of takeaways down the main high street.
If you happen to be in Tesco at Hednesford, when at the check out, have a look out of the huge windows, in front of you, you won't find a better supermarket view that that. :thumb2
We've been down to see our grandson in Oxford for the last 2-3 days, we are now at home. Looking forward to meeting as many of you as we can.:clap:clap

Just had a decent meal with Zippy & Mrs, Ian is the site on Kingsley Wood Road? just making sure I hit you first time with van on the back, incidentally anyone know why I cannot backspace / delete, means when I do a typo I cannot correct it :(
Yep, was a good evening for us, not to poor people in the rta
Best wishes to everyone sorry we can't make it this time,
Here's hoping Rustic. Can you mix morphine and scotch?
I know the answer to that one lol
Hic

Malt has no great affect though...
Sorry to hear about Doug's lad, how things can quickly change ...
I had a restful night, and hope to meet up later. I will keep monitoring the forum.

Well, I've just put the boy to bed after coming back from Scarborough a&e with him, he's hurt his neck today, will be ok with ice packs and calpol thankfully.
I can't come to meet tomorrow though I'm afraid, it wouldn't be fair on the little bugger, he just wants to go see his grandma now so I'll hitch the van up in the morning and head home.
I'm upset and sad that I'm going to miss this peeps, but I have to put the boy first :thumb2
Ian, I'm not sure how you arranged things with the site, do I owe you any money??
On a good note though I got stuck today and had to use my winch :D
No worries T-Doug. Hope he feels better soon.
No monies required pal.
We'll arrange another outing soon :thumbs

Oh man the pictures are making me even more jealous :lol I mean it when I say I wish I was there :(
His neck was stiff this morning, some calpol and another ice pack pack has helped, this is the first time I have ever had to buy calpol, he usually shrugs things off after about 45 seconds of crying, he gave me a bit of a scare last night.
Have a good time guys and for goodness sake get the mav down rustic, that will be epic :bow:lol
Hope to be on site close to 2:30 ...

Fantastic to meet everyone and as someone has said to me it's as if we have all been friends for decades and I have to agree. Another one home with a grin. Great weekend and great that Uncle Rustic & Roz could get there. Best of luck with the shoulder.
Good to put faces to the names and see a couple of other Terranos, I guess the Patrols were put off by the tricky entry to the site.
I hope everyone has/had good journeys home.
Definitely have to organize another there and get some gentle laning in.
I hope the little 'un is OK T-Doug, shame you couldn't make it. There'll be others.

Rustic it was a pleasure to meet you and Roz and I hope to again soon sir :thumb2
That truck is an absolute corker!!!
Me and Block decided to have a drive over to Telford way and we popped into James' farm (Terranobreakershropshire), he doesn't use the forum much anymore but boy oh boy is he active with the parts and the import export game
I'm sure Blocky and James are glad they have met now, he's a very useful guy, How about all those trucks Blocky :bow
We were also going to climb the Wrekin together but as we left James, we glanced over to it to see the top in cloud cover and being rained on so we departed and said our goodbyes.

Just been reading through this thread, doesn’t seem like 5 years ago. A lot of water under the bridge since then. It did make me wander just how many of those trucks are still on the road.
The Mav is still on the road, I still think about and regret PXing the 3 litre. Not looked lately but it does keep getting an MOT but it tends to miss about a month before it gets an MOT.
