I got a phone call this morning to say my 2 Goodyear Tyres were in stock having been booked in online for next Tuesday.
I asked if they could be fitted this afternoon - no they were too busy. I was then interrogated about what vehicle they were being fitted on. I told them it was a Jeep and as it is AWD I was advised that they will not fit them if the remaining two tyres are low on tread due to rolling circumference possibly affecting the drive train.
I brought the fitment date forward to this Thursday morning by agreement. After I had given the Wife a lift to work I decided a trip to CostCo to establish if they were prepared to fit the tyres was a good idea. On arrival all the tyre bays were empty with not a single customer on the premises. I spoke to a fitter and he said he could fit me in if I was prepared to wait but they might not be able to fit the tyres if as it was 4WD if there was an issue with the drive train? I pointed out that although it was a 12 year old vehicle it was very well maintained and had a service and health check last Saturday. Was told quite abruptly that having had a recent service was not relevant.
I was instructed to drive the vehicle up to Bay 2. I went to move my vehicle and decided to take a picture on my phone of the empty Bays. He checked my existing tyres and said they would be fine and asked if I had taken a photo as I was going to complain! I stated that I was impressed with the clean bays and had taken the picture for this reason.
Again told they might not be able to fit the tyres if they were not happy with the AWD ??
WTF ?? 40 minutes later got a phone call all was done and fitted ok. Whist in the main store I spoke to the Manager to tell him I was not impressed with the totally negative outlook of the bloke I was dealing with and that this had been my experience from previous tyre purchases.
That said all done but when I need the next pair of tyres before winter I will pay the extra £6.00 or so and go to National Tyres instead. I just don't need the attitude.
