I got a phone call this morning to say my 2 Goodyear Tyres were in stock having been booked in online for next Tuesday.

I asked if they could be fitted this afternoon - no they were too busy. I was then interrogated about what vehicle they were being fitted on. I told them it was a Jeep and as it is AWD I was advised that they will not fit them if the remaining two tyres are low on tread due to rolling circumference possibly affecting the drive train.

I brought the fitment date forward to this Thursday morning by agreement. After I had given the Wife a lift to work I decided a trip to CostCo to establish if they were prepared to fit the tyres was a good idea. On arrival all the tyre bays were empty with not a single customer on the premises. I spoke to a fitter and he said he could fit me in if I was prepared to wait but they might not be able to fit the tyres if as it was 4WD if there was an issue with the drive train? I pointed out that although it was a 12 year old vehicle it was very well maintained and had a service and health check last Saturday. Was told quite abruptly that having had a recent service was not relevant.

I was instructed to drive the vehicle up to Bay 2. I went to move my vehicle and decided to take a picture on my phone of the empty Bays. He checked my existing tyres and said they would be fine and asked if I had taken a photo as I was going to complain! I stated that I was impressed with the clean bays and had taken the picture for this reason.

Again told they might not be able to fit the tyres if they were not happy with the AWD ??
WTF ?? 40 minutes later got a phone call all was done and fitted ok. Whist in the main store I spoke to the Manager to tell him I was not impressed with the totally negative outlook of the bloke I was dealing with and that this had been my experience from previous tyre purchases.

That said all done but when I need the next pair of tyres before winter I will pay the extra £6.00 or so and go to National Tyres instead. I just don't need the attitude.

Seems to be General attitude throughout this country which I find frustrating to say the least.

I couldn't agree more and I'm looking a sacking off Tesco and starting to shop locally. I always try and support my local bike shop, local garages. I use Amazon as little as possible (generally when I can find locally).
It's not always possible, but I try.

I highly recommend against that idea if you live in Warwick :lol

I am using a small Garage in Mickleover for car repairs I don't fancy doing myself. So far I have been surprised how reasonable the labour charges have been.

Even with the 50% Discount I get from my old workplace it's cheaper and certainly more convenient to go local. It's a small thing but I buy my Newspaper from the corner shop whenever I can not Tesco or the M&S run filling station.

I do not use Amazon much I do use e-bay for bit's and bobs to save on fuel & parking in Town. I hate the Westfield / Intu Centre but if I want a watch battery fitted no small independent jewelers nearby.

Just spent a couple of hours in mine, playing with my cleats to sort out a problem and sorting out bike-fit, getting the gears re-indexed. All for the grand cost of £00.00 excl VAT.
£00.00 inc VAT.
Happy days.

Like I said it seems to be the same everywhere in this country. Just phoned Andrew Pages for price of rear shoes. Wife jumped straight into the car and went on there. They denied all knowledge of my phone call and the price had gone up significantly. She stuck to her guns and eventually got the lower price. I knew I should of taken a name when I phoned them.
