I know what it's like.... we all worry about our MOT, mine was 6 days ago

just like Del Boy said...
Women worry about their PMT...
Men worry about their MOT...

So true.

D'ya know what?

I never worry about my MOT. I check my truck/van for what I can, or have time for, and lob it in for a service and MOT. I trust my garage to do their job, they only call me if it is a large problem.

With all the crap going on in the world, the pressure from my work load, home life, and my best friends terminally ill wife, I'm ****ed if I going to worry about the MOT. In the grand scheme of things it's nothing really.

Don't mean to upset anyone, but I'm three funerals into this year already and another one looming.

Don't stress about your MOT. It is what it is.

You are right in the grand scheme of life it is nothing really.

However, we all still worry about minor things because it is in our nature to do so.

Good luck Clive but I reckon you'll know it's passed by now :thumbs

Well, good news, She passed.

1 advisory, I have to whisper this... it needs a bit more welding on a fix that Rick did, ironically, he over plated the sill to make sure he was well away from the rust, but in doing so, the extra metal is now too close to the front seat belt mount, so has to be seam welded. Luckily, I filled the gap, and have over painted it, so he admitted that while he was pretty certain it had not been welded, with out poking about, he could not prove, it, but said with a Wink, best get it fixed for the next MOT.

Thanks Rick.. It was a very long day, but the results prove your skills yet again. :bow

I know what you mean, and we are lucky at the moment, as far as peoples health goes... well apart from mine, but that's another story...

I maintain the truck mechanically, as best I can, which personally, I think is to a very high standard, but tin worm is an area outside my expertise, and while I found some areas that needed welding, and Rick very kindly did for me, I can't help but worry they might find more than I found.

Money is very tight at the moment, and the truck is our one passion, so if they do find too much rust, then while it is not the end of the world in the grand scheme of things, it's not so good for us. and will put a serious strain on things at the moment. So I can't help but worry a bit.

Glad it went through mate. Mine was done a couple of weeks ago and went through with no advisories. This has made me scratch my head a little as from time to time I get a knocking on the suspension (I did post on this awhile ago) and they found nothing.

I must admit I was more chilled this year, like emjaybee said, I too have more to worry about this year, but had it not passed it would have meant I would have to make further arrangements, at a time where making decisions is the last thing on my mind.

My wife is so chilled, she would have said... not passed... here is a blank cheque fix it :doh

The problem we men have, is we see it as a reflection on our ability to ensure our vehicle is reliable, safe and maintained for a reasonable budget. A bit like providing food and shelter for the family. Hunter gatherer type principle.

Not many of us would prefer to pay someone two hours labour to replace say a couple of drop links, but sometimes needs must.

Could this be your steering stops need greasing, cos the MOT tests all other moving parts, Rick

Does it in a straight line on a bumping track or verge potholes.

What about exhaust hitting some place? I doubt it will be any of the suspension/steering components as they are all, or should be individually checked for play or wear, Rick

Hmmm, hadn't thought of that. Although it does sound like a "joint" knocking. I'll have to give the pipe a good shaking next weekend.

I am talking about the MoT pass it's a very agreeable state on smugness and self satisfaction. I see it as a reward for good maintenance.
