One of the jobs on my list since I've owned the patrol was to get the lights working in the A/C unit.

I've took it out of the car and stripped out the lamps... I just wondered if you Guys & Gals knew where would be the best place to get replacements from?

I know you can get LED replacements for that type of thing but to be honest I think you maye be better going to Maplins and getting replacement bulbs. They come as small glass bulbs with wire legs. Just untwist the wires on the holders and remove old bulb amd then replace and trim the wire legs. Maybe not a bad idea to take one of the bulbs out as a sample.

I did exactly that tonight, but as near as I can tell, I need a 4mm LED suitable for 12v. Maplin only had low voltage 3mm & 5mm :doh

Problem that I see with LEDs and displays that were not designed for them is that you get bright spots so it doesn't look even.
You would need to use a resistor in series with each LED but the problem you have is that there isn't much room to have a resistor and LED in those holders. You may be able to get Pre manufactured LED replacements but other than ebay I've no idea where to look for them.

The way Jim was talking about is to use "Grain of Wheat" incandescent lamps, which are normal bulbs, but just have long wires straight out the bottom, just like were used in them in the first place.

I got some Blue T4.7 LED bulbs from Ebay for the T2, and was very please with them, they use COB leds, so you get led focus..

By the way they also do the long bulbs which I could not find anywhere when I needed them.. Do a search on Ebay for Neo Wedge LED.. (http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=Neo+Wedge&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR5.TRC0.A0.H0.XNeo+We dge+LED.TRS0&_nkw=Neo+Wedge+LED&_sacat=0)

I read your build thread because I remember seeing that you had done an upgrade... Then I started searching. I found Neo Wedge Lights T4.7....

...I was just coming on to write an update on my eBay findings, then I read your above comment pointing me in that direction! :clap

As a quick update... My Neo Wedge 4.7 LED's came today.


Too big. :doh

Think I needed the 4.2's!

I can't seem to find white ones by UK sellers. :mad:

I really do not understand why they have to have so many different sizes of what is basically the exact same thing.

On Jiggley, to do the one I had missed, which was more like the two white ones on your car, I ended up removing the LEDs from the one that was too big by carefully unwrapping the wires, and then fitted it into the old white holder after removing that bulb..
