Scotland in May - tips?

I'll be spending a few days in Scotland, Cairngorms National park, early May.

Any of you people have tips? Accomodation, visits, sightseeing etc...
I'll be flying to/from Glasgow, as Mrs perelaar is organising an event there, and the idea is to spend a few days together afterwards.

2 things already on our list, on the way into Cairngorms park: visit to Glengoyne distillery (I like their produce) and to the House of Bruar to stock up on shooting equipment

Visit Grantown on Spey bud, lovely wee town, the Garth Hotel there does lovely food and is meant to be nice accommodation too. Also go to the Wee Puffin, lovely wee relaxed restaurant with a good selection of ales/beers and whisky (including bottles for sale). There's a few more pubs/restaurants and hotels in Grantown too.

Tomintoul is the highest village in Scotland (just back from spending two nights there for New Year) and is 13 miles from Grantown. Nice wee village it has a couple pubs/hotels and a restaurant or two as well as the highland whisky market and is near the Glenlivet distillery.

Slightly out your way but a very good whisky visit with a great restaurant is the Famous Grouse Experience near Crieff.

While in Glasgow, if you like meat, then pay Meat a visit http://www.themeatbar.co.uk. Love that place but not for vegetarians, even does cocktails with meat infused alcohol :lol Also visit Khublai Khan's http://www.khublaikhan-glasgow.co.uk for Mongolian barbecue, great experience and lots of different tastes even kangaroo, zebra and crocodile! :naughty

well b you make me want to go up there again,last time i took van uo to sterling it was in the heavy snow a few years ago.

Hi i am a Scot living in Scotland and know the area well.
Tons to see up there.
I recommend the highland folk museum excellent.
Visit the house of bruar but I definitely wouldn't buy from there it's so expensive compared to normal shops for shooting stuff

The mosquitos are also not vegetarian, you might be going just before they are out and about, but in some areas of Scotland they are a pest.

So take some deet based repellant just in case.

We'll certainly be visiting house of bruar, not so much for me as for the Missus
