Hi guys. Thought I'd register and pop a quick 'Hi' thread up.

I'm Chris, from South Shields originally, but now living on the N.Yorkshire coast in Saltburn-By-The-Sea. I'm totally new to Nissan 4x4's although I've had all sorts of Nissans before (I'll go into that in more detail in time). Anyway, I'm picking up my new (to me) Mk1 Terrano on Tuesday from Norwich, and can't wait.

That's all for now. I did say it would be quick! I'll be back with tons of pics of the T1 (?) when I get it home.

Have a fantastic Christmas and New Year guys.

Regards,

Chris.

Thanks mate. Are there many members with T1's here (am I right in calling it a T1?)?

Good luck with your new teuck and have a great Christmas.

Thanks for the welcomes guys.

I was aware of the WD21 designation, but wasn't sure if you referred to them as T1's here.

Can't wait to collect it.

Oh, I'd be much obliged if someone could point me in the right direction to get a couple of club stickers?

Thanks. I'm actually being pickied up from Thetford train station, heading to the seller's home between there and Norwich, then heading home, so I'll not actually be right in Norwich itself. Appreciate the offer though :thumbs

I tend to refer to our one as a T1 most of the time, after all, it's first Terrano, and Nissan saw fit to call the later ones a Terrano 2.

Maybe we should label them like the wars, the Great Terrano, and the Second Terrano... lol.

Wow that looks fantastic!!!!

Such an old school look and feel about it but a very familiar looking engine bay. I'd love a drive in that, the boxiness of the whole car really appeals.

The only thing I'd have to do with that is swap the steering wheel

Lazy-Ferret
25-12-2016, 18:24
Good to see inside another one, I always thought the steering wheel was an after market one, but ours is the same... I love that steering wheel.

Unfortunately, ours was stored behind a barn at the bottom of a hill, in mud, for a few years before we got it, so is in a bit of a state. I was going to fix it and get it back on the road, but poor thing has stood on our drive for another 3 years. Still starts first turn every time, even after not being started for 6 months.

Really? So the steering wheel could be factory standard? That surprises me.

I have not seen any others on here for a few years now...

I don't have many pictures, funnily enough, I was waiting for better weather to clean it up, and take some, so we can stick it on Ebay and hope someone with more time and drive might take it on as a project.

Here are the only ones I have, and none of the inside.

Well, a 5am alarm yesterday, and three trains later I was in Thetford, Norfolk. First glimpse of the Terrano was at the train station....

http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/geordiejamesey/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/DSC_0004_zpswjeyghhh.jpg (http://s648.photobucket.com/user/geordiejamesey/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/DSC_0004_zpswjeyghhh.jpg.html)

A quick look round showed all looked in order, so the deal was sealed and I had a 240 mile run home to look forward to. That run home was a long one due to accidents and volume of traffic, but I got home and all was good....

http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/geordiejamesey/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/DSC_0007_zps0jri31ks.jpg (http://s648.photobucket.com/user/geordiejamesey/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-10/DSC_0007_zps0jri31ks.jpg.html)

I've spent a day with it today, cleaning inside and out, and I'm loving it so far...

If you don't mind me asking, why did you opt for the WD21 over the R20? Were you just looking for one of those or did it just come up? You must have been pretty committed to travel 240 miles for it :clap

I went for the WD21 as it just popped up on a retro forum at the right time. The R20 is just a bit 'new-ish' for my tastes too, despite there not being much difference between the late WD21's and early R20's.

240 miles is just one day out to me. I've bought and collected cars from all over the country. Adds to the excitement.

The Disco is a great car when working. We bought it in August, and between then and November it was off our drive more than it was on it. However, all sorted now, and it's a lovely cruising car, great for pulling our 24ft caravan. My lass drives it 99% of the time, so I'm left with my Jap stuff, which suits me really.

I'll post up some pics of the other motors at some point soon, but here's a little mini-feature on the J30 on p31 of the latest edition of 'Practical Classics' (I've sold my Ford Probe in between writing the words for the article and the publishing of it).

Remember going on a drive n skive to see the new maxima when it came out all those years ago. The bloke from nissan balanced a 50pence piece on the top of the engine to prove how smooth it was. Was a great car was that.

Those were the days working for a nissan dealer and I turned up at 8:30 in the morning 1st of August in my brand new J reg Astra, they tried to fire me for that but as I was happy to tell them I did try and buy a couple of cars from them but they didn't come up with a good deal. Pity really as they had leant me a Bluebird in super condition for a weekend but wouldn't sell it to me cheap, worth far more commission to retail it.

T11 was the Stanza, a T12 is Japanese built T72 Bluebird and the T72 was built in Sunderland. Very few T12 Bluebirds ever sold on the UK market but they were far better build quality than the UK built version.

Your hard work has certainly paid off with the Max paintwork. Never had anything to do with this clay polish stuff but the results look super.

On mine, it effectively a hand throttle to lifts the revs, which means it warms up a bit quicker, but is not a Choke, so you can use it any time you want to raise the revs, like when using a winch...
