View Full Version : A shocking revelation
One thing this new software has reviled is the actual active membership of the Club.
Of the 1,177 registered users of the site only 694 are paid up club members.
Of those 694 Club members 348 have not logged on for over 3 months.
By my reckoning that means we have an active club membership of just 346
346 members in a club that is 4 years old is shocking considering how many Nissan & Ford Mavs there are in the UK alone :doh

It's really to be expected I think. I'm guessing that people join to get the info they need and then forget about us all. I don't think that it's a shadow on past management of the site in fact quite the opposite keeping so many members active.

probably cause another argument saying something.... but i really dont want to go down that road, its all there in yellow and blue oh and black...
you just need to look at the figures !
we average 10- 15 members day time
35-40 night time.
we was getting less than 1 member a day now i guess we average 2 a day so its doubled since the new boss
but the facts are we get around 45-50 members logging in every day...
im assuming thats around 40-45 very active members ... the ones who will be here to meet and greet new members
the rest come and go as and when they need info or have time playing on the net. but most members wont have been here for a while
and if they tried today they'd go to co.uk and not get in
one things for sure we need more members and we need to be nice to them when they join... comments like
ive been here longer so i know more or simillar
i know more about caravans than you
will only hurt the club cos people wont stay
i often think when reading something that is clearlly getting out of hand, its better to say nothing if its not going to be nice... just walk away and have a break
"but thats only a small problem"
the big problem is why we are not encouraging people to join in and have fun. what is it that will make people want to join, stay, and join in
i did ask a while back...
what is it you like about the club
what would you like to change in the club- to make it more fun
what dont you like about the club
" and yes nman your welcome to say extremly anoying people/questions i wont take it to heart prommis"
we are all a mixed bunch from varied backrounds so your input is needed so the club can see how to make it work
i think if we all sat down for 10 mins and thought about it, with computers off, make a list on a peice of paper likes dis likes and wants. then add your thoughts on here . we would all have a clearer picture of what turns members on
its not about me saying i want changes... its the stats saying there has to be changes - to stay alive
none of us wants to loose it - so why not try to put our heads together

Well look at me I come on here night after night ,enjoy the banter ,camaradary, storys ,
and the crack ,my wife sheila will also have a read .we were sad to see the arguments and back biting that went on ,"problebly due to the insecurity of the site + the possibly of closing down.
now we have a new owner and a new format things are settling down again.
I havent run the terrano for nearly a year now ,so something else must pull me back night after night.

I'm a new member and have no knowledge of what has been happening behind the scenes, but i will tell you this i bought my nissan terrano drove home in it got on the computer and typed in nissan club and this is how i found the site.
I read some of the forums and realised there is a wealth of information on this site that has already helped me with problems i'm having i got a big welcome when i threw myself in the deep end and told you all i'm a reformed land rover driver.
i would be more than happy to advertise the club but i can't find out how to order stickers or download leaflets, i think if this info was made available and merchandise was obtainable then this would help to advertise the club
anything i can do to help just let me know
well arragne one then Tubbs. go on, you know you can

tbh i have feared this, as can see day in day out its same old names posting.
also when go into member list how many never post or get beyond 'hi' or their
first question. maybe they are happy watching and trawling forums for existing
advice.
I would suggest members raise any issues, or where they feel club /site is short
either by pm'ing admin or a mod or posting openly in threads like this.
we really dont bite, well not very hard lol, and just want to see this place get
better.
I'm a reformed LR driver and fairly new to the club. If I don't post every night, I am trawling the site every night. I have found everyone to be very welcoming, friendly and full of good advise for my silly "I've just bought a Maverick" questions.
I've said before, but I'll say it again... I'm also a member of The Discovery Owners Club. They have Local Sections, (usually arranged by County), that have Monthly Meets, (usually at a Pub). The section is run by a Local Section Rep. This way Members get a local contact, meet other local members and can arrange their own events, laning days etc. They also still have the benefit of anything happening Nationally.
Right, that's my 10p in.
Cracking site, thank you to everyone, Lee.
I love this site:thumb2

thats the point i was trying to make all along, as a varied bunch of people from varied backrounds etc.
its all well and good me saying my bit and the boss doing his bit. but what really matters is your bit.
what is it you like?
what bit dont you like?
what bit made you join?
what bit makes you want to give up?
what else would you like ?
for me id like
more interactive stuff pics video's or zippy's games
id love a shop merchandise and parts for sale you could even buy your sevice kits here (new idea)you could even have a full blown shop snorkels tyres anything really and you order paypal then wait for your bits to arrive via the club
i want to learn all i can cos i got a mav and i bloody love it
i dont like nit picking i get that at home anyway dont need more
same as texting the wife, you say something in text and they miss interpret it, then she gets grumpy . i suppose its the same here sometimes using text... as rag says having to ones tongue is best
i liked it before and i love it now:thumbs

Well, first post since I joined. Have still to pick up my first Terrano 2, hopefully after Christmas. It's a 96 2.7TD, I'll mainly be using it for in and out to work, hunting and general get around. Previously had a Pajero 2.5 SWB and was a member on there, good site ,lots of help and advice on problems, really useful stuff. I find here is perhaps a little more like a chat room, although a friendly chat room. Would like to see more on the problem solving side , although the articles and how to's with pictures are very good. Perhaps the relatively small number of posts on repairs etc is because the Terranos and Mavericks are so reliable. I can't wait to get mine and give it a good look over, I didn't really have a good look at it and don't know for certain which engine is in it, guessing it's the 2.7TD but need to have a proper look when I pick it up. Don't recall seeing an Intercooler on it and it doesn't have an air scoop. Anyway I hope this site keeps growing and would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a great New Year.

well, I like the club pretty much as it is, and that doesn't mean there should not be any changes as I am pretty much up for anything.
I like the pub chat area, people don't allways agree but then they dont do that off line either do they?
I think that it is a friendly place with a lot of positive points and even when people dont agree it can be positive, I think the thing is to just not join in a thread you are not happy with and go and start or join in another ;-)
On line as in real life, the P.M. critiscisms behind each others backs, and petty foot stamps and leaving, and cyptic critiscism like 'i'm not naming names but!' do more harm to the club on line and off than actualy geting you point of view out there and talking it through! I wonder how many peole get paranoid over such comments and feel they are being the victim of a P.M. conversation? when in reality the person you are aiming it at either doesn't realise, or doesn't care!
I'm not syain I know best, as i don't but I have been here a while and have seen some dedicated and loyal members and friends leave over P.M. fall outs, and behind closed doors stuff.
It does appear though that the hard core of members who keep posting is slowly growing, and they stay regardless of anyhting that is said or done, those who can stand a little dispute from time to time and keep moving forward! life is full of ups and downs, and the club would not be here at all if everyone threw the towel in at the first posting they didn't like the look of would it?
SO LETS STOP back biting about back biting, and get on with it!
well said, could'nt agree more plank,:clap :clap

I have allways thought that one of the signs of a real friend is that you can 'fall out' without falling out' and that the first harsh words dont mean the end of everything, take the wife for example;-)
We can thrash out an agreement or heatedly agree to differ, alongside all the friendly banter it is all part of the rich tapetry of communication that makes this community.
I think when you get agreement from people, it is nice when you know it doenst come from people who just agree to everyhting to keept the piece and can be confident they will express the opinion they hold.
Everyone joins for different reasons, and it is therefore wise to keep a variety of posting 'styles' to keep everyone interested.
I must admit though i find the lack of anything at the old club address is not good, if it had been kept with a 'redirecting too' message or simmilar for a while it might have been better?

Hi Plank, what do ya mean m8. When I go to the old .co.uk address it redirects me to the new front page. Have I got the wrong end of the stick again.

I love this site worts and all
Ok we all have bad days but when I have one ....I keep quiet:)
;)
I joined the club when I bought my Mistral to get info on servicing etc,
But this club has become much more,
My mistral runs great so no need for the info (Touch Wood),
I dont feel the need to post all the time as there are much more knowledgeable people on here, but if I think I can help I will !.
I enjoy having a look in to see whats going on in a regular basis.
Great Club ( More of the same)

fair point... are the ones that are not up to date still getting access.
if they are lock them out. it would be fair give them a cut off point, of say 1/2/09 then its all locked up and you need to re join.
at least you wont be working your ass of for free, and you would have an accurate figure on members. then we can all work on from there
on the bright side. we do get lots of guests and new members too so its looking up
and i think plank said it right... cos i dont get offended and nothing i say on here is meant to offend . but having said that if i do ever. please feel free to pm me and say
id rather know so i can apologize .
im here for fun friendship and to learn about 4x4's... and to do anything that helps the club:thumbs:thumbs:thumbs:thumbs:thumbs
or suspend their membership for a month with no access then if they don't pay up kick em out

Steve there are about 500 registered here that are not Club members, they can see all the posts but can only post in this section (http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=48), some are new members but the majority are past members.
I don't think it is ethically right to make people pay without first being able to see what they are getting.... I want people to become paid up Club members because they want to.... not because they HAVE to.
I believe by opening up the site more and allowing people to see what we have to offer + the help and advice that is available, will ultimately encourage more people to join and WANT to be part of what we are.
yesterday, under the cover of darkness i slipped out and put a club flier under a t2 windscreen wiper, someone was visiting a neighbour, dont know them so i did it commando style, hopefully another visiter to site and maybe a new member, :thumb2 :D:
