Unilever Brexit Scam ?

Well just like when we went Decimal back in 1971 and prices soared Unilever has started to take advantage of the Brexit and the Pounds fall. Well done Tesco for doing what it has done.

Marmite is manufactured in the UK in Burton on Trent who sell it all over the world. One of it's main ingredients is Yeast. So how has the fall in the pound made this product more expensive as it is manufactured in the UK and probably the majority of it's contents are sourced from the UK ? On an export basis it will become cheaper to sell abroad so they might sell more and make more profit !

I suspect that in the long term the prices of products manufactured in the UK are going to become more competitive than those we import so the economy might even boom in a couple of years when the UK industries pick up the advantage..

Now we have Nicola Sturgeon causing trouble wanting to re-run the Referendum. I would like to see a UK referendum at the same time asking if we want Scotland to be part of the UK. We could do a Donald and re-build Hadrian's Wall and let them live of their oil and join the Euro if that what they really want !

Well since you mention it Divorce proceedings can be started by either the Husband or the Wife and they can counter petition as well !

I hoped Scotland would stay as a part of the UK and that the last referendum would put an end to them leaving for at least a generation but clearly the SNP wants otherwise so I for one will be pleased to see them leave now and be done with it.

My opinion of Nicola Sturgeon went rapidly down hill when she broke her own rules about not voting on matters that did not affect Scotland. She voted against an easing of the Sunday Trading laws in England & Wales and guess what ? Scotland already has relaxed Sunday Trading. She is clearly a Hypocrite !

The rest of the EU should have a say on Brexit. If Scotland wants to leave, they can. It's nothing to do with me.
I guess the easing of Sunday trading would have affected Scotland, especially for day trippers heading over the border for a bit of shopping, on a Sunday.
A bit like me popping over the border to do my shopping in England to avoid the plastic bag tax (obvs before England joined in).

TBH the only time I believe Politicians think of "Voters" is when its coming up to General Election Time.

The Expenses Scandal a few years back pretty much destroyed any faith I have had in Politicians of all parties. Clearly most Politicians are against leaving the E.U. so have no interest in making a success of it despite what the voters wanted.

Just like Sturgeon wants to re-run the referendum until she gets the outcome she wants. I suspect that every effort will be made to sink a good Brexit outcome with the hope of either getting back into the E.U. via the back door with a Trading Agreement or perhaps a re-run of the Referendum.

The mistake Cameron made was to give the decision to the Electorate in the first place. He feared losing the last election due to the potential electorate support of UKIP so was stuck with the referendum promise.

We should not blame the Voters for Brexit but the Politicians for facilitating the Referendum in the first place!

I too hate tesco . My reason though is they insist on continuing to stock products laden with palm oil . I defy you to buy a cake for example in tesco that doesn't have it in. I've emailed them about it and other shops. Aldi replied saying they're changing all their own products to be oil free. Tesco couldn't even be arsed to reply.
As for Unilever well they can charge what they like. Why should the likes of tesco dictate to anyone how much a product should be ? We the people can decide who we buy from and at what price.

Tesco is within walking distance though we drive to carry our stuff whereas Asda is a good 3-4 miles away and Sainsbury's although only 2.6 miles the poorly laid out access makes it a nightmare to get out. My Mate was stuck there for over two hours when they had the new traffic lights installed. They have now been switched off !

We use Aldi as its about 2-2.5 miles away but does not stock all we need. We were big Lidl fans but the local store closed due to rent increases and now its about 4 miles away in a slightly iffy area due to lots of male Migrants hanging around the City edge. Our nearest Morrisons is on the other side of Town and means a long journey round the ring road or a traffic jam cutting through Town.

We have a Co-op but it's quite small and pricey but convenient. I am trying to convince the Missus that we could just shop online but that would deny her the seemingly pointless walks around isles we never buy anything from.

Ahh don't shop online please! this is the sole reason for most high streets and other store closing and lying derelict, its the same with those self check out ones........make people serve you! Its saves peoples jobs.

Totally get not using self service. I have worked with people who have left education with nothing for various reasons but have worked hard and developed a career through starting on checkouts for a couple of hours a week. I always go for the serviced tills as I still think good customer service is important and should not be lost and neither should the jobs and opportunities that the job creates.

Yep I never use the self scan tills nor will I allow the Staff to put me through one at our local B & Q as it gives a false impression that customers like them I always insist on a till being opened. Caused a bit of trouble a few months back when there was no proper till open. I asked to see the store manager and guess what a till was opened with a lot of face pulling and muttering.

Never been to Japan but I do like the sound of their toilet seat systems where you have a wash and dry in situ so as to speak

You're have to be wary of automatic toilets!

A few years ago my wife won a Rhine cruise, Amsterdam to Basle. At Basle we had been walking around for a while and we decided that we both could do with releiving ourselves. We found a group of very smart auto toilet cubicles in the town square. Each cubicle was a symphony in aluminium with a red and green light, we assumed red was occupied, green was vacant. There was a couple of people waiting, when one became available,my wife nipped in.

The woman stood nearby grabbed me and was trying to tell me something, the door already having shut and locked. I quickly grasped that you have to wait for the green light before entering as the cubicle does an auto clean.

The CUBICLE not the toilet. It washes the entire inside down, walls, floor, pan, you name it. It then proceeds to fast dry it with high pressure air.

My thanks go to the Swiss for being efficient enough to put in a sensor to detect the presence of a person. My wife came out unscathed. She did say that I was white as a sheet when she came out. I was crapping myself.

Apparently we later found out that the sensors had only been installed the month before as they'd had a number of issues with people basically being washed and blow dried in the new conveniences.
