Most of it will go on an exchange 3.9 kg propane for the boat lol.

I had purposely accumulated several spare 3.9 kg from outlaws etc etc, as I thought about decanting, but not a safe way, or that economical for the "short term" :doh
So part of my declutter, may as well make a few £

I probably have around ten that I do not use, but nearest depot is Crawley, an hours drive away and I would have to use the trailer as well, so for me waste of time, had it been Hastings or even Eastbourne I would have jumped at it, however I have just ordered 4 x 47 kg cyls due for delivery now so will ask the driver, they come from Hailsham, maybe they will do a deal, Rick

How much is refill?

47kg £56.39 delivered, do not know about smaller bots as always refill from big ones, but only ever half fill so know there is enough expansion space, Rick

Bally hell, no wonder I do not buy small bots, 47 kg = £1.21 per kg 3.9 kg = £3.97 per kg, Rick

I investigated the connectors to do it, even fill up at Auto gas, but that loophole has been closed.

I am not without experience of gas bottle filling, when I worked in the weighing industry, I helped to design the weighing side for a rotating carousel the small 4.5 and 3.9 kg had screw fittings, so were manually filled, but the 13 and 15 kg ones with the clip on regulators went on the carousel automatically, rotated then came off for a quick leak test, check weigh then off for despatch.
All the equipment was for use in hazardous areas, so quite a few certificates to obtain etc.

Well that option is out of the window, based on the fact I buy on average 1 or at most 2 a year. It could take 10 years to break even, might not have the boat by then...:augie

I fill every thing from large bottles to small, in a vast range of gasses, Autogas is no good as it is a mixture of propane and butane, heat wise I only use Propane, refrigerant gasses, welding gasses etc well that is another story, but yes beg borrow hire big bots and decant is the way to do it, I make my own connectors, and disable the one way valves in some bottles that try to stop you refilling, Rick

know some that have fitted lpg fillers, to feed a bottle in boot.

I have approved gaslow system, with designed refill bottles in caravan.

paid about £8 for 16 litres, 8Kg, so will save in long run.

Yes LPG road side is cheap and can be filled to a tank in boot but heat quality is far less than than Propane, I can silver solder with Propane, (copper to copper hard solder) got no chance with road going LPG, Rick

My LPG injection on the Black Pearl can be fueled by red bottles :naughty allegedly :lol
As for 7.50 bottle returns, I'm confused ! Why don't you get back the bottle deposit ?

I presume it's like an amnesty for people who do not have the orriganal deposit paperwork. I must admit I have about 7 gas Cylinders, but only 2 were got directly from Calor Gas, and I have the agreement paperwork for, the rest came with caravans and trailer tents.

It is to do with pressure Pete, neat Propane runs at far higher pressure than propane/butane mix, as for deposit this is a historic thing that got corrupted in the mists of time, Rick

Yes but all those bottles were deposit paid at one time or other ? So regardless of paperwork I say any bottle should be worth the deposit back again ? Flippin' companies are shafting you :o
Can you post a copyof the paperwork you have please ? I feel a printer session coming up :naughty

Yeah, thats it Rick has the nail on the head.

Firstly not many people will still have their original invoice to prove they paid deposit.
Secondly people have collected bottles from all over, I have one from the days when my parents went camping. When I had a caravan I wanted an extra one so whilst at my local waste disposal depot I noticed they had a cage for old bottles. I asked permission and grabbed a couple from there. So again no invoice to say deposit paid.

I guess this promotion is like an amnesty for bottles.

Yeh I got three in my caravan, I wouldn't be surprised if the paper work for them was in a folder that came with it, but it won't be in my name, I have a couple of butane in the garage too :nenau

Oh it was Clive that hit the nail :lol

About right, but 47kg = £1.16 per kg = around £7 for your 6kg, Rick

My mate told me about the place, it's about 2 mile from me, been there for ages and I drive past it all the time. I remember seeing the little sign at the side of the road but never clicked, so I'm chuffed to bits :D
