Arghh Weather!

Weather forecast said that it would of stopped raining and be fine this afternoon. I've got two patches of metal ready to weld but I don't really fancy getting welder out just yet. I'm under cover but the odd drop gets blown under where I'm working. Need to get wifes truck finished and sent for mot but the weather and other things are conspiring against me.

Don't sulk!!! You don't need that negativity, use the time to be productive with another task that needs doing, there's always something that needs to be done!!!

Jim,

When you do the work can you take a couple of pictures, I want to know what to aim for when patching and fabricating, especially if it is for MOT work?

odd drop is nothing, get on and weld it

Well I said sod it and went out and got on with it. Got to fabricate some rear wheel arch now and then the worst is over with. Ok a little bit of rear body mount but got my plans made how to do it.

Alan, it really depends where you will need to weld mate. To be honest this time around if I couldn't of done it then it would of been scrap yard. Tell me where you want photos and I may well have some pics.

Nothing specific Jim. I am just interested in seeing the work. I know I will have to do the front crossmember (behind bumper) on mine at some point. Please don't go to any trouble, I know it can be difficult to grab images when your doing a repair and in the zone.

Hi Alan, no worries. Take a look at my project thread which is linked in my signature. That will give you some ideas about repairs for the front end.

Also checkout this thread too regarding the front crossmember. I based mine on this. I did use 80x40mm box section for the cross member but ended up having to cut it down as you'll see. If I were to make another I would use 40x40mm box section.

I'm currently working on the back of the car, to be fair there's quite a lot but my son was also a little over zealous poking about and using the grinder where it wasn't quite so necessary so I need to do a bit more reconstruction than originally needed. Biggest issue was the boot floor and to be honest elty made a really good thread as he replaced his boot floor and a wheel arch. Think if I had the time would of been a better way to go.

When the cars back on the road I'll post a few pics of the repairs. I also need to update my project thread and also my MG but quite busy with this car and also a youth group that I volunteer for.

Thanks for the reply and all the info. It is much appreciated. I am going to have a browse through your whole project thread as it is seems you are getting to the root of all your vehicles corrosion issues. I hope it all goes well.
