Hi all,
Got my first nissan terrano. Mainly to be used for towing a trailer and none of this mad off road stuff... although its nice to know the motor is capable of doing it!

Have a bit of experience putting engines into cars, but the size of these 4x4 is going to be a challenge. Everything is soooooo bigger!

Noticed that rust can be a problem, but good job I have a mig and a inverter welder - so just a case to jumping in with advise for my peers!!

Welcome. Personally I've found it easier to work on my terrano than a std car because everything is bigger and more robust :thumb2

Here you go. Nothing special, but got it for 1500, 60k on the clock but actually 106k - replacement dash, hoping its not going to be a money pit!!

Looks tidy :thumb2 there's no-one who owns one of these who hasn't a list of jobs to do. The folk on here are a godsend for info and it certainly helps to keep you motivated. :clap

Totally agree!! Blocky10 - seen the dodgy mount for the compression rods and my heart sank, but keen to do stuff on the car myself and was glad to hear people supporting me to have a go!! I've been on other forums and they are full of smart arses... everyone has to start somewhere!!

Yeh everybody's great on here, good laugh too, check out the downloads section in quick links, how to's and workshop manuals are great. Blocky is right, everyones got a list of jobs to do, and a lot have a wish list too :D

Hi there and welcome aboard, yeah these trucks are capable as standard motors so if we get a wee bit of the white stuff in winter you'll get where you're going :thumbs
I've towed another terrano on a car transporter trailer with ease. Keep the fluids changed and you'll be fine, rear diff oil should be done with proper limited slip diff oil other wise you'll be doing drifting around the corners :eek:

Rust can be a problem but if you have a mig get stuck in, take a look at my project thread in my signature. Paid out loads for welding in the past but now I'm lucky enough to have my own welder and a great son. Main areas to check are below but don't let it worry you.
Rear seat belt mounts, the bolt hole in rear wheel arch.
Inner and outer sills, starts bubling towards the rear of the sills.
Body mountings, four per side.
Boot floor, under rear seats.
Front wheel arches and inner wings.
Front cross member that the radiator sits on, again there are body mounts right at the front too and also the front bumper reinforcement.

You'll see plenty of these in my project thread. Once they're fixed you'll not need to revisit. Waxoil is a great thing to use. Hose the front wings behind the door hinges with the door open.

Great trucks, my wifes is 20 years old but I hear there is one even older but weight has double since new due to being 50% waxoil :lol

Is welding such a big deal? I've done a bit in my time, but always a concern that my welds aren't up to scratch - but sure the bloke down the road that has a garage, whats the guarantee that he knows how to weld either!
