Unfortunately this kind of proves my point about unregulated/unmoderated FartBook forums.

They are happy as larry to bad mouth away, but when they're called on it they have a hissy fit and go and sulk in a corner.

I feel that. I have a theory that people get sort of bored when there is nothing more important to occupy them, like a war, and a lot of what is wrong with society in recent history is a result of it. I appreciate my life and liberty and I think that too many people take it for granted.
Personally I think there should be much more awareness of what happened in WW2 and what is happening now in other countries. I look at some peoples situations and feel very lucky and also motivated to enjoy what I have, and I no longer waste time on things like faceache.

My wife and I decided not to have children about 12 years ago. It wasn't the only reason, but part of the reason was that we didn't really like the way this world is going and didn't feel like subjecting our offspring to a worsening world. As I say, not the only reason.

There are many wonderful things in this world, and many wonderous things to come. But there is also way too much misery and neglect.

I'm going to stop there.

On the whole, people are wonderful beings.

Exactly why I am more than happy to pay my £10.
In some pubs I have drunk in you could not even get two pints for a tenner. Is this place worth so much more than two pints.......definitely.

Never been a fan of swearing as a form of attack, i was taught it shows a lack of intelligence and the respect for that persons argument is lost once the swearing starts.
Life is hard enough and more often or not sadly too short. If people act that way in my house then they get kicked out , I am no longer interested in their company. I am not going to invite them in through my screen and feel that type behaviour is any more acceptable.

May sound daft but I like to surround myself with positive people who appreciate and understand respect and decency despite any differences of opinion and I always try to be that person back.

It does seem to be the way of the world now, everybody wants everything for nothing, and hard learnt knowledge is considered to be valueless.

Like many, I spent a good many years of my youth learning, and then when my friends all went off and got manual jobs paying cash at the end of each week, I chose to stay learning, in the hope of "bettering" my self. I must admit there were many a night I sat at home penniless, racking up more debt, having just got the latest course work book to wade through, while they were out drinking and partying, and I did wonder if I was doing the right thing... The logic was after 5 or so years of this, I would be able to go out into the world and demand a better salary, pay back my debt, and in time this would make up for the "Skint" early years...

What I found though, was those same people who were out partying, and drinking, never really giving me a second thought, now wanted my help to fix things they did not have the knowledge to be able to do. The problem was, they expected it all for free, or just paying for any replacement parts. I then found I was working long days, as employers expect a lot more when they are paying more, and then would then came home to people moaning that I had still not fixed their item. I was so busy I now had no time to go out partying and drinking with them.(Maybe they were trying to tell me something :doh )

As I moved on in life, I decided more and more to be a bit selfish and to keep my abilities to myself, only using them when I wanted to do it for someone worthy, or of course, where I could get a better salary for this knowledge.

The result of this is, I value someone's "knowledge" as being just as financially important as a physical item. I would not expect someone who has a mechanical knowledge to give me a product they can fabricate, for free, so why should they expect me to give them the knowledge I have spent many years learning, for free either.

This forum has a collection of people, all with varying knowledge skills covering a great many things, we pool that knowledge and often we can work out a solution as more and more data and opinions come to light, even if the answer is not instantly obvious or available. That all has a great value and we all work on the principle that we compliment and value each others input, even though that information only costs the giver, a bit of time to share.

The important bit is having a good and safe medium in which to pool that knowledge, but to have that knowledge, indexed, filed, saved, backed up, and moderated has a physical cost, so to me paying to have that information in one place, and protected is a worthwhile thing not to be ruined.

You only have to do a search on the web on a bit of info you know something about to realise just how much bad information there is out there on various unmoderated "question and answer" sites to realise how important paying for good information is.
