Hope this is ok...

As most of you know a group of us run a page on facebook 'nissan terrano and ford maverick owners club' whilst we have no issue with any of you joining (more the merrier ect) what we dont want is people posting link to this forum knowing full well people that are not paid member cant see and further morr then refusing to pass the info on. Im all for sharing info and keeping as many terranos/mavericks alive as possible and i hope one day for a mass terrano/maverick meet/pay and play/laning day. Yeah i understand the forum cost money to run and that some people dont do facebook ect but i think it would be great if we could all get along as such!

Cheers George

Well they shouldn't be such cheap skates, and pay their tenner, then they can benefit from all this vast amount of "Searchable" info, like the rest of us loyal members do.

Hi George

Any information that is on the forum won't be viewable unless you are a full member of the forum. I could understand that somebody may have posted a link to the forum in a Facebook post not realising that said person who clicked on the link wouldn't be able to see the information. I would hope that this isn't being done in a malicious fashion wherby the poster knew that the person clicking the link wouldn't be able to see the link in some plot to get a membership, although it is a damn good idea :lol

Frustrating as it may be, if the person that has posted the link has found it useful enough to pass on to someone else, that information could save the person a fortune in some cases and as such resources like that and knowledge is worth contributing towards, we try our damned best to try and make this place the best Nissan knowledge base on the net.

All I can suggest from an admin point of view is that if this kind of behavior continues then I would ban that user from your Facebook group

Just the support i was hoping for!

Also facebook has a search function too! And lets be honest the search function on here isnt the best!
There is plenty of knowledge on here and the facebook group alike

What extra do you gain for the £10 a year??

I've only recently joined the face ache group, was when we had the big switch over, and some of the posts and pictures have been an interesting read but I'm a forum user through and through, TO THE CORE! :bow
Nothing against you face ache terrano/maverick owners though, I just don't like face ache. Can't even bare to say the word. It's all to do with the constant drivel people post. Like, " Oh no I've ran out of baked beans so I'm off for a 5k run and when I get back I've got to stain the fence! "
Who cares. :nenau

I don't personally deal with the admin side of things I just moderate really but the £10 as far as I'm aware just goes to the upkeep of the site on a server somewhere, there's the workshop downloads that members have created with step by step pictured instructions of jobs that have been done and the satisfaction of knowing your in the company of friends that I talk to more than most of my family on a day to day basis

If I've missed anything guys feel free to post it :thumb2

Incredible how £10 sorts the men from the boys, I don't usually rant but c'mon mate, if you have a problem on your facebook site sort it out on your facebook site, not on here with a condescending attitude like that!

No offence, but it kinda feels like it's not the forum that has the problem.

My £10 a year has saved me £100's of pounds in garage bills and a huge amount of time.

We have an administrator and a number of moderator's, who are there to see the smooth and polite running of the site. We don't have to put up with a constant stream of irrelevant drivel, and we only have to look at what we want to. We aren't subjected to constant adverts or promotions, with the exception of Banshee's "wellers", which is worth £10 in itself.

My time is precious and so is this forum.

Please go and moderate your FartBook forum as you see fit, but please don't try to get us to deal with your problems. They are just that, your problems.

Thanks for stopping by.

I think paying £10 sorts the Wheat from the Chaff and is a sort of put your money where your mouth is situation as well (Well eyes more like ).

A long time ago a Derby Barrister told my late Father that good advice is not free. If its worth having it's worth paying for. And lets be honest £10 is not a fortune compared to a tank of fuel ?

TBH some of the stuff on Facebook in general is so trite I pulled my plug on FB almost a year ago.

I think Georgie is having a go at me, I quote

"Georgie Munro Dave Batter why even bother posting on here if your just going to be a complete c*nt about it... guess the forum is running low on members!! Or the drinks fund is running low!!"

Someone asked about a second alt, I said I have a write up on it to do for this forum, I was asked if I would post to facebook I said NO, I posted a link to this forum, suggesting they join if they want the information

Membership is the best tenner I have ever spent get it back at least ten fold every year.

I use both Facebook and several forums. Facebook for me is an easy way to keep in contact with friends all over the world, and to quickly share pictures with them. Never had an issue with drivel, but then again I'm quite selective in what I say and share.

As for the £10, best money I ever spent - and it has been paid back multiple times in advice, parts and general saving of time! Imagine paying Nissan prices and technicians for all our issues :naughty. £10 will not get you far in a Nissan dealership...

This just typifies to days freeloading society you wouldn’t write to Tesco’s and ask them to stop advertising there food because people are disappointed when they turn up and have to pay for it would you!
We long term members have put a lot of hours in to this web site and don’t even think about the 3p a day it costs to be a member.
Which brings me to a long time gripe if mine . These people come on here expecting to be able to take advantage of all our hard work and dedication and fined they have to spend two minuets putting there details in to join expecting then full access to the site. Then they realise they have to pay a tenner to get anything really use full. so don’t bother again, That is why if you look at the members list there are literally thousands of names who’s join date and last visit are the same, some going back ten years .
Although there are over 4000 members listed there are in effect about 350 of us.
Red names never last long, they ether pay there ten pounds and join the gang, or fall off the edge of the world, never to be seen again.
So Bat, get rid of any one who hasn’t been on the site for over 12 months and hasn’t ever made a single post.

Rant over ! :question

Could someone point me in the direction a this great Facebook page, please?
It seems to be a proper friendly place.
When I say great I mean shite and when I say friendly I mean hostile.
Oh yes, when I say point me in the direction of, don't waste your time. :)
What a wholly bizarre request from the OP.

Well said !!

Not had a Terrano for 3 years but plan on being a member for as long as this site retains its character and helpful outlook. Who knows I might yet buy another Nissan 4 x 4 !

Why cant everyone just pay the tenner and use both to full potential like me. I think both are great and use both very regularly the tenner is def the best tenner I've ever spent!!!
