View Full Version : a little about myself
please reed all of this if you stop halfway you might get the wrong idea about me
Hi all my name is paul, mates call me Stabs, or Rocky i've only just joined but finding this website of great use to me, i'll tell you a little about myself at the risk of being run over at a meet or booted off the site i must confess i am 1st and formost a landrover defender 90 fan i've had 4 up to now and i have had great fun i've had them side ways, upside down up to the window sill's in a river and crushed by a 14tf fall backwards.
i love them however i have one major problem i buy one i take it to pieces rebuild it then kill it.
I've been looking for a little more comfort and style in a 4x4 and something that i won't instantly stip down to nut and bolt and suprisingly i settled for a 2002 2.7td ex durham county council van in yellow with flashing light bar and warning livery covered rear door.
why you might ask? well it caught my eye surely thats enough it has good running gear big wheels ( second set off road tyres already on order) a heater that works (not standard on a LR) and big comfy seats and the one thing that i have craved so much on those long cold wet days greenlaneing CUP HOLDER! yes a cup holder no more hot tea over the twins when out driving.
Anyway i'm loving it although it is causing me some problems at the minute got the odd problem or two but luckerly the seller is willing to do some of the work to save his embarrisment on ebays feedback pages.
So heres my plan carry out a few modifications get it all ship shape keep my eyes peeled on here for a few meetings and see what the old van can do, so i'm looking forward to meeting some people and getting out and about with like minded people don't hold the LR thing against me i'm open minded and maybe you guys can convert me
i'm looking forward to it
Had help on here already with water in footwell so thanks to those that replied big help

Were out tomoz in the Yorky dales if you can mekit bud.
Not bothered which truk you use tbh.
Each to his own I say. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg43/dadba/Dec%2007%20to%20Dec%2008/dadba1/eusa_whistle.gif
Ive always seen landiz as working type farming type thingys.
Now Trols and Cruisers are a different kettle of fish. Style, power, strength, ability with some comfort thrown in too. http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg43/dadba/Dec%2007%20to%20Dec%2008/dadba1/thumb_yello.gif
If you bring your Landy tho you can be rest assured cos I have a good selection of straps and a good strong tow bar too.
and so the banter begins i will test this nissan thoroughly and see i must admit though it is quieter and warmer than any 90 i've owned so looking good time will tell anyone here from preston lancs or surrounding area

welcome, we own all sorts of stuff on here, and the ongoing banter with land rover (and other 4x4 owners) is a lively and welcome adition. If you look n the gallery you will see lots of off road photos of Nissans and land rovers out together, the first off road difference that struck me is that the T2 has lower gears in low ratio than the land rover :!:

Hi Stabs & welcome to the club 8) I like the look of the LR90  but just don't fit in them  TBH I think you'll get a nice surprize at what your T2 can do offroad 8)
Welcome stabs,
it will be interesting to know how you rate the Terrano against the Land rover when you have taken it to the extremes of its capabilities.
hi stabs
I used to have toyota,s, and they are brilliant, but lost my job and need to sell both cars for a budget 4x4. nissan and ford seemed the obvious choice. we have a terrano and maverick now.no major problems so far.
so welcome to the club, they are a great bunch of guys.check out the orkney trip in august.

Sorry Mate, ID 10 T error...
Hello Stabs,

Lee.
got it for a good price yes but does have problems which i'm slowly making my way through interior completely stripped as had water in footwells, it was coming in through the van panals (where window should be) on both sides and running down into the well.
so van going to a mates to have all new seals and pannels
i've got another carpet on order
15" maverick alloys fitted
got some new seats to go in too
so lots to keep me busy and probably a lot of you when i'm needing advice
will bee worth it when its done
thanks for the welcome guys
