Sorry to say folks, from now on (unless I know you are OK) it will be payment before I dispatch, due to a none payer on here, saddens me that some can be like this, Rick

Seems fair enough to me (on your part). I wouldn't expect you to send anything without having received payment first either.
Top tip: Don't accept payment with Paypal gift. You'll have no recourse if it goes pearshaped.
Sorry to hear there is a sour deal there rick.
Sorry to here that rick and would seem your too trusting. I'm afraid I trust no one with money to many ready to take it from you its a shame but how the world is unfortunately payment first then I hand over what's been paid for. I'm always willing to help people and I prefer favours. I scratch your back you scratch mine lol
Dont get to deflated about it rick we know your a top bloke and payment before receiving wont change that fella

Sorry to hear you've been wronged there Rick, got to say I'd expect to pay upfront.
As others have said I don't trust anyone, that's why I don't sell through eBay even though I'd love to sell stuff.

Thanks Pete, I have been in the transport industry so know how stuff is treated, so do my best to avoid bad handling, it is only a small amount owed but annoying nonetheless, Rick

Small amount or not is hardly the point. I don't like to think we have another member that thinks its ok to not pay.

All the above Rick.
Just now searched glow plug relay and found someone wanting one from you a while back. Obviously it could be someone else so let's not start assuming or throwing angry messages around without a name.
It's well out of order not to pay your dues. Once bitten and all that Rick.
It's not just the value of something but we all know how difficult some jobs are to do and Rick had to find time to do it to be able to post it out.

None paying customers has always been a worry for me since becoming self employed, but I have been fortunate enough so far & they always pay.
I will only send something to someone before payment who I have met in person and a low value item under 20 pounds or so.
But that rarely happens as most are keen to pay before.
Its not only the value of the item and PP.Its also the time Rick has gone to,helping this member.

I too would be annoyed if a member failed to pay up.
Might be this post trips his conscience and he does the right and decent thing.
Some people do not have that software in their brain to activate a conscience in the first place probably a nature v nurture thing from childhood.

I'm sure this happened to Rick a while back, so not again!! I hope it's just case that the buyer has forgotten to pay. It's a shame if he/she is just holding out and being and an ass, I would like to think that nearly all members on here are pretty genuine people and would not so sh1t like this.
I remember this happened to Rick a while back, and no, I am not going to link back to it, things like this need to be left.
I do recall it upset Rick a lot, goodwill and all that, and trust.
I wouldn't have a problem sending Rick, cash up front, stands to reason.
Of course to a long standing member like Rick, Jim's Terrano, and me I guess and others, it would hurt our reputation, if we didn't send it out following payment.
As ebay shows, there are scammers, they occur in all walks of life and all forums I guess, some also claim they haven't had the goods, or they try to return their faulty unit, claiming it didn't work and expect a refund.
To counter this, recorded delivery, and some form of security marking.
So Rick, don't apologise, I think all of us would agree, and may be a policy that all members should follow, as per ebay rules, unless we have had dealings before, and a good track record. Having said that, people do forget and need a reminder now and again, but you have to think, who is doing who the favour here?
Uncle Rustic
None paying customers has always been a worry for me since becoming self employed, but I have been fortunate enough so far & they always pay.
The bigger the company owing the money, the longer you wait in my opinion.
For example, a company I worked for, had a simple policy...
they had three trays.
After 30 days, you ring them.... Oh we'll look into that, it looks as though it is on the next payment run....
Invoice moves to tray 2.
30 days later you ring them sorry for the delay, there was a problem setting up for your account... it moves to Tray 3 and payment is made on the next cheque run.
No second phone call it sits in tray 2.
Tray 2 was the biggest of all the trays lol....
:doh
there could of course be a quite innocent reason why the person hasn't paid , but surely a message would have been sent to explain why ? ...... rick is almost family to me , and it upsets me that someone within our midst does this . :(

Thanks for the feedback and support folks, yes it hurts when you get treated badly, and I do give a lot of trust, I like to think that in general people are trustworthy, I have been self employed 37 years and had very little in the way of non payment, £800 was the biggest from a small company that I did a lot of very lucrative work for but the head of the company suffered dementia and wife cold not cope so could not pursue the debt, sadly I will now go with the flow and only now dispatch after payment, it goes without saying that if the goods are not up to required standard or are wrong then they can be returned for a full refund, excluding P & P, I think that is fair, Rick

You cant be fairer than that. I don't know rick personally but seen how others respect you and been a top member on this club so dont get to down and thankfully sounds as tho the part in question wasn't gonna brake the bank but that you now know payment first will stop the agro happening again
I think enough been said hopefully guy in question has read this thread and does the right thing and that's the end of it. Keep up the good work rick as your a valuable member
Never nice to hear stories like this, we are a small group really, should be here to help each other. Intentional theft is one of the worst things you can do to someone :(

Rick has been a pure gentleman as he was before with this episode. Such a shame that this has happened. Not really sure hounding someone off the club is going to help, the person will have read this by now so hopefully they'll have a realised there mistake amd rectify it.
As for paying up front, well I'd expect to have to do that anyway.
Rick, we all support you mate and appreciate your advice and assistance.
unbelievable!
I cant believe what I am reading, Rick is an absolute gent and ive had a lot from him in the past and the trust from him was immediate. I cannot believe someone would take advantage of a openly decent and trustworthy chap, Rick I am saddened to read all this.
I cant say I agree with Alex's approach, harassment and all that, as it will achieve nothing - the individual obviously has little to no morals so a bit of online abuse isn't going to make a blind bit of difference.
What I would hope, is that the individual takes a little time out to read this post, mans up, winds his neck in and pays up with a simple but decent apology. People make mistakes, Pete could be right there may well be a reason for none payment but I also agree that given the facts the person has left nobody any other reason but to think they are a dirty thieving twat. Personally if it were me, I'd be MORTIFIED at reading this, and I would man up, publicly apologise and pay my bill. SO whoever you are, please do the right thing. We are all a very friendly bunch, and what you have done achieves nothing but animosity. Pay your bill, I doubt it was much money coming from Rick because he is a generous individual.
All I can say is that I fully support Rick and his decisions, its not even a shame he is resorting to payment up front - this only proves what a thoroughly decent guy he is in the first place, so nothing changes there.

A quick message to explain a predicament never hurt anybody and if the person has been active here since the problem became apparent, there is no oversight and no excuse.

Sorry guys been away for a while and only just caught up with this.
I am sorry that Rick has been let down so badly by a member of the forum, it frankly is not on. I have never met Rick, except through the medium of this forum, and have formed the highest opinion of him. For someone to undertake such a low underhand trick, is despicable.
It is theft, no less.
If a moment of forgetfulness has overtaken you matey, then the tenor of all the comments, should have jolted you back awake.
Pay up apologise and think yourself severely reprimanded, and still a part of one of the friendliest, welcoming group of relatively like minded folks, that I have met in a long time.
Rick deserves more than being cheated. ...........:(

it is harsh lesson, but let me be the first to tell you its your own fault, it was bound to happen sooner or later and there is really no excuse to not taking the money upfront, everyone seems to slate ebay on this forum but this would not have happened if it was done through ebay - you can go though life being the goto guy and be everyones friend but sooner or later that will get exploited
on the bright side you probably wont let it happen again
I am self employed and I try and get payment before I leave the property ( I serviced oil fired boilers). I have been lucky in the 9 years I have been trading re bad payers. The worst one I had was from a new customer with a 1.5 million £ house, stables, etc. Couldn't find his card or cheque book, but would BACS me the payment. It didn't arrive, despite repeated calls, texts, letters. It was the principle of the thing not just the money - £115
This went on for months and he only paid up after I started court proceedings and a threat of making his credit rating go bad.
I have had stuff from Rick, he's a top bloke, item arrived well wrapped, in great condition and on time. Give the guy a few more days, if he comes on then he will read all this, then name him. I have no place for scammers

Well folks, good news, received today payment plus a bit extra for said item, seems it was a genuine error, but I do have to say it is a nice feeling when what I thought was a wrong is righted, water under the bridge and all that, I say no more, Rick
