Ensuring that your car has the right engine oil is an important part of keeping it running smoothly. Benefits of an oil change include:

- Correct lubrication
- Cooling
- Cleaning
- Internal component protection

There is also the considerable financial benefit gained when doing this at home and cutting the garage out of the equation - should you choose to take your service kit to the garage then it's good to know that they will be using a top quality oil in your vehicle, rather than the "standard" oil used in garages - it's worth it for the peace of mind.

As part of this, you will also receive an OEM quality oil filter, as well as the option of choosing a top of the range K&N filter (http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-1212-kn-performance-filters.aspx) that has been matched using an extensive fitment database - you can rest assured that you will be fitting only high quality, and CORRECT products to your vehicle. Combined with this is a FREE disposable filling kit which includes a funnel, gloves and handy wipes - making your oil change easy and mess free!

To get started, simply follow this link (http://www.opieoils.co.uk/vehicle-lookup.aspx?CategoryID=2355) and enter your vehicle details to find the specific kit for your vehicle, it's really that easy.

Got a race, track or custom vehicle? Not a problem, get in touch with our recommendation form (http://www.opieoils.co.uk/frmRecommendAnOil.aspx) and we'll match the right products to your specific set up, it's condition and even your style of driving. Alternatively, give us a call on 01209 202 944 and we'll be happy to help!

Don't forget! Combine all of these great benefits with your additional 10% FORUM DISCOUNT. (usually found in our signature)

Until next time

The service kits for my Vehicle list no 10w 40 Mineral and says a service kit is 6 litres when I know for a fact I need 7.2litres for an oil change :nono

Hi

There are very few 10w-40 mineral oils now, the only one we have is a running in oil. A semi in an upgrade over a mineral oil and the 'synthetic' component in a semi is actually a highly modified and refined mineral oil, so a semi is actually 100% mineral oil anyway.

There does look to be a capacity error with your car, but I've checked a few databases and they are all listing 6.2L for it, rather than 7.2L. The only ones I can find that list 7.2L are the 1999-2002 models. I will get the service pack updated.

Cheers

Hi Tim

Thanks for the update, I've had this argument with numerous other members and have tried it many times to prove. Semi 10w 40 in my car causes the engine to sound very clattery when cold. Swap that for mineral and she purrs like a cat. I've got a solid source at the moment who is able to get me 10w 40 Mineral. It's a little pricey at £41 for 8 litres but I don't care, this car gets the good stuff.

The engines never changed, my 2004 is exactly the same as my 1996 TDi was and both hold 7.2 litres, I've never measured very accurately but I'm always left with just bit over 1l I think

Hi

It's a bit odd about the capacity, I've checked 4 databases and they all list 6.2L for yours.

Mineral oils are often good at absorbing sound, but it doesn't mean they are offering better protection than a semi or full synthetic.

Is that including the filter? Still doesn't equate to 7.2l though :nenau

My apologies, I've just checked and you are correct

TD27TI with filter = 6.2l
without = 5.5l :thumb2

I must be over filling mine slightly then

Better check that ASAP

It could possibly be an overfill, but if it's correct on the dipstick, it's not overfilled. Some oil capacities that are on databases are not 100% accurate.
