So after putting off buying a 4x4 for towing our caravan and buying a BMW 3 series, Volvo S60 and Vauxhall Vectra (absolutly terrible car) I took the plunge and decided to look at a number of X-Trails all were lovely cars with all the mod cons, I then decided to buy this, 78000 mile, 4 family owners, local car for alot less that marked price

good plan stop the rot before it starts, Rick
Thanks guys
Well apart from above there's nothing else to say about it really, I got a feeling the driver seat is bent slightly, there's no arm rest in the center which makes me sad and a little rust on the rear door.
Although I did find out that it was bought by a farmer from the next village up new from a van specialist just down road, he passed away whilst feeding sheep in his field, his son inherited it, his wife then needed a 7 seater so she then had it for a few years then her father had it

Door rust is not usual, which door and where? Rick
on the boot door just where the plastic trim under the window meets the metal on the door near the handle

never seen rust there, got doors if you want one, but not your coulor, Rick
thanks but I am just awaiting a quote to get it done as either way it would have to be painted, its only a couple of surface scabs so should be an easy fix

Welcome:D think we chatted on FB the other day about you changing your stereo:confused: Centre arm rest is easy to sort as a Vectra B one can be modded to fit which i've done twice & one of the best mods i've done. Mine also has the same rust spots on the rear door:doh
Yes mate that was me, fantastic news, do you have any pictures?

90% of 55 plates are in the lower bracket think it's feb or march 06 when the price jumped by an extra £200 a year:doh

Yes they love to rip the British public off same motor & engine but because of the date it was sold they can somehow justify the extra money:doh yet you can have a proven dirty VW & aren't going to up the tax on them which is so unfair. TBH most 4x4's now made after 2006 your going to be stung with £505 a year tax:doh

That's why I'll be trying to keep mine alive forever :sly
To be honest I wouldn't have bought it if it had been £500+ a year as thats not justifiable, not saying id never pay it as one day ill have to but it is a hell of a lot of money

Road tax is a complete rip off, They did away with it in France 20 years ago. The peasants revolted (as they do ) and said "this road tax was meant to pay for the building of roads after the war, years ago, hardly any new roads are being built now and those that are are mostly payed for by the EEC. So we don't want to pay it any more!" So the abolished it and put a small tax on insurance, just to get a bit back!. I cant see that happening in the UK tough.:doh
I wouldn't begrudge paying it if they actually spent the money on the roads as they are getting terrible now, what I think they need to do is start taxing the big companies properly, reduce fuel duty so people got more money to spend on other things, (grey area for most) legalize canabis and tax it, the amount of people who smoke it they would make a fortune in taxes but as I say its a grey area
