hi there

new to the site so trying to upload pictures

went off roading this weekend with my new terrano. After constant micky taking from my work mates about how bad terranos were offroad i had to show them. I think i went a bit too far. I was against a landy 90 and a £150 suzi sj so i didnt want to let you lot down. However i now have massive power loss. i took the air filter out but no difference, and i gave the maf a wipe but hasn't changed i've got a feeling that its the turbo. so if anybody knows a quick way of checking to see if the turbo is functioning as it should, please let me know. the turbo is still caked in mud so i have a busy night ahead of me tomorrow

Was the air filter wet when you took it out, just wondering if you've sucked up some water :? I would check that all the turbo hoses are tight then disconect the MAF unit & take it for a spin to see if there is any difference as MAF units are funny little things some go slowly others very fast  If it is the MAF then it'll set you back about £45 from Nissan

Did u remove bumper.

clearlly ... but just ask did you loose it or remove it

its the worst when they fall off , as you end up running your own bumper over

Easiest way to check the MAF is unplug it, no change and its goosed and by the pictures its well and truly unservicable.

Me thinks you need a snorkel

Terrano's are a match for any LR

i took the bumper off before hand, i knew it was going to get a hammering. no water inside, luckily.

i will say that the landy was running on standard suspension like myself but when we were climbing a big hill which was rutted it seemed to get up a lot smoother. we had almost the same tyres on. a took a couple of attempts, yes yes, i know what your all saying, 'driver error'

If you got a bosch MAF the cost is between £35 and £85 from nissan.

If its old stock they will charge you top money and if they have to order it, it will cost less.

Might be worth checking the starter motor. Took mine swimming but 2 weeks later needed a new one as it was full of water.
Anyone know how to waterproof a starter motor????
