Can any one recommend a wireless cctv set up for an out building about 150 metres from main dwelling.

I have tried lots of wireless set ups over the years and found none reliable enough even at very much lesser distances than 150 mtrs, in fact I have not seen one work at more than about 50 and many do not work well at more than 5 yes five mtrs, think the problem is the frequency that has been alloted is just a naff one especially at the power levels allowed, Rick

Swann cctv systems are good. Picture is good day and night but not sure they do wireless.

Could you not use the mains to carry a signal back to the house? sorta like networking over mains:confused:

Why not consider using external grade Cat5/6 and hard-wiring something?

TP Link do some great outdoor Cat5 cameras, I have a dome one that I am going to fit into my new shed soon so I can go in the house and not worry about my BioDiesel and watch it from my laptop :thumb2

Ive used Foscam camera's for watching inside and outside at home for a good few years. the one in my shed emails me 5 pictures if anything moves in the shed.

it is wireless capable but I tend to find the image a bit stop start on wireless.

they can be accessed via the web or on a mobile phone app and once setup they are pretty good. the IR night vision capability is pretty good too.

As mentioned previously if the building has electric from a supply in the house I would install the TP link powerline units and use the electric socket ring to give connectivity to your garage and use a wired connection, these are very cost effective and reliable and pretty much set themselves up.

you could also put another wireless access point in the building and have internet out in the shed !!!

I tried the Powerline units for Broadband in my Garage Office that is at the bottom of my garden and they would not work over the distance despite having a good underground armoured cable. In the end I hard wired the internet with the usual router plug wiring and it works a treat. The Powerlines were good in the house provided you plugged them directly into a double socket. If I used any kind of extension they did not work. Mine are the early version of Powerline so later ones might be better.
