Has anyone got any experience of Teng Tools?
I was in a motor factors yesterday and noticed a big display of Teng sockets and ratchets. I'm after a new 1/2 drive ratchet so asked how much they were. For a Teng 1/2 inch drive ratchet with flick switch for direction is £26. Not knowing anything about the brand decided to wait before buying.

Our local tool shop stocks Teng. Not bad quality.
Personally it's Halfords profess range for me....
Don't know about the modern ones but the old ones weren't to bad from what I can remember, sadly can't be any more help as most of mine are either MAC, Snap on or very old Britool
I have an old set of these https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/clarke-cat119-impact-socket-set?da=1&TC=SLI-000310119 cheap but never smashed one with a windy gun or 4ft breaker bar infact the bar gave up before the socket did:lol
Teng tools used to be really good quality 15/20 years ago ratchets and socket wise but don't know about the modern stuff. Guess if they are still going they are doing something right.

What's the warranty on them? There should be kit out there with lifetime warranties that isn't Snap On prices.

Teng tools are good, they carry a lifetime guarantee so enough said. although some of their ratchets look shite the ones with plastic moulded handles. If your looking for a quality 1/2 ratchet then get a facom you wont be disapointed.

I have a Halfords socket set which my father bought me 27+ years ago, when every high street had a Halfords. It had a lifetime guarantee. The receipt is long gone, the plastic case has no mention of the guarantee.
Two years ago I rip a 27mm socket in half. Took it to the local out of town centre Halfords large store. Told them about the set and the guarantee and they said they'd look into it. The manager was younger than the socket. Two weeks later, phonecall, we've got a new replacement socket for you, free of charge.
Two months ago whilst freeing up the shock absorber nuts/bolts, the universal joint from the same set fell apart. Took it into Halfords, explained the whole thing to the lad who was 22, and he replaced the part with a new "professional" one there and then. He said, if it's got a lifetime guarantee, it's got a lifetime guarantee.
We take the p!ss out of "Halfrauds", but their customer service ain't half bad.

I bought my first socket set from halfords 43 years ago, it is a Renshaw, made in Japan, all imperial of course, over the years I have replaced the sockets with metric, either from accessories with air tools or bought the odd socket.
The ratchet wrench still works, still use the extensions and "T" bar.
All came in a steel case, with simple catches, still works ok.
I still have the imperial sockets, stored elsewhere, usefull sometimes for Hammering over worn out metric nuts lol...
Over the years, I have only split one 1/2" drive 10 mm AF socket, not sure who made that one though...
Tools that have worn out over the years are "L" handled allen keys, :doh, just ground off 4mm and start again lol... Some of the others have barley sugar twisted handles...:augie

Good call on going somewhere that might be around long enough to honour the lifetime warranty. I used to sell Taskmaster for Brown Brothers that came with a lifetime warranty. :nenau

I use Teng tools. I have a Teng ratchet (plastic) which I am very pleased with I had it about 10 years when the little torx screw that holds the direction flick switch fell out & got lost along with the flick switch. I went on using the ratchet just using a screwdriver to change direction for quite some time when a rep came around & offered to replace the ratchet foc.
I was really pleased with this as I didn't buy it from him originally & I didn't consider it to be a fault of Teng that the screw had fallen out or that I lost the parts.

Just re read the original post & I seem to remember my ratchet was £25 & its got to be more than 20 years ago now.
I love good quality tools, after use I always degrease them ready for next time, I hate dirty greasy tools.
Every tool has to go back from where it came, so I know where to find it next time.
I have tools for mechanics, electrical, electronics, plumbing, DIY, gardening.
Electronic measuring tools, etc etc.
I even have different screw drivers for electrical work than for general work. The electrical ones are insulated and I wouldn't compromise their safety, with cuts or scratches to the insulation, even though I won't work on live equipment..... knowingly :eek

I bought a Teng Socket Set about 20 years ago it came in a moulded plasic case.
They had a lifetime warranty but the shop Hartleys Motor Factors has long since gone.
Case still ok sockets still good, being the smaller drive they have not been abused.
ive still got a kamasa tools socket set somewhere , from years ago when I used to race motorbikes :o

You'd hate my tools....they're rarely cleaned[emoji15]
But I do put them back in their allocated drawers in the tool box...socket drawer is a mess really need to get socket rails & sort it out.
I've got a mixture of tools from b&q, halfords, snapon and some unnamed ones. I like the halfords or snapon ones best
