Dragging the caravan to Lickpenny Park this year, near Matlock. Should be settled in by Sunday night. Camped in Ricks back garden last year so who do we have in this area?

Some nice places to visit around Derbyshire and some nice lanes, if the fun police haven't had them closed.
Isn't that Elty's neck of the woods?

was up that way with my van 3 weeks ago.
hulme end is a nice place £4.50 pppn.been about 6 times now.
Yep, Matlock is not too far from me.
My mate works at the garden centre just down the road from lickpenny ,Scotland nurseries .
If you are not afraid of heights I would recommend the cable car ride from Matlock Bath ,some brilliant views from that.chatsworth house and Gardens not too far away and if you have kids the farm park and adventure playground at chatsworth is well worth a visit.
Enjoy your stay and feel free to drop me a pm if you need any more info on the area.

Thanks guys. Will be out and about but not sure I'll be risking any lanes on my own unless they're very tame.
Cheers elty, the kid's will love the cable car ride so that's a definite and I've already orders to visit Chatsworth house from the wife and the mother n law.
I'll be taking my mountain bike too so will be having some me time... Quality.
We'll be there for 10 nights so anyone passing through feel free to get in touch.

That's great elty. Where the track splits by the river, not far from the start, do I take the left or right.
Not going to mention it to the family, just slip off the tarmac onto the dirt. :D
Ian
You keep to the left. When you are on the lane it's clear which way to go.the track on the right is gated and comes to a dead end.
While you are on the chatsworth estate if you drive up the road about 1/4 mile past the entrance to to chatsworth house there is a small village called Edensor on your left through a big arch with gates.
Follow the road through the village, not forgetting to buy some home made jam from the cottage on the left up to another easy lane that brings you out at the back end of bakewell.

Yep. We'll be there till the following Tuesday but can't risk anything too serious. The roughest lane I've been down is the lane to Ricks place!

Thanks, we love it. We chopped in a 14ft lightweight for it [emoji38]
This site is lovely, it's spread over several levels so the higher you go the further you see. Didn't know at the time of booking but it's a no tent site, which is unusual, and very quiet.

That's good, what's it called.
I find a some people with tents, don't respect other people property and tend to like playing bloody football or other ball related games, some caravans dent quite easy and once you have a dent, that's it. A tent don't dent.
We tend to use caravan club sites as nearly all are no tents and members only, My caravan cost a lot of money, so I want to keep it in tip top condition :)

Caravaners don't play football? My tent cost me 600 quid and I wouldn't appreciate football's been kicked at it either

The site is called Lickpenny Park and up the road from Matlock. Check out their website.
We will definitely use this site again.
There's also plenty of field space to kick football's around. We just use penny floaters, but if the wind is keen they blow away!

Yes they do play football, but tend to use the play area, caravan club sites are normally well run and the majority keep to the rules, or get a talking to from the wardens.
Not saying all caravaners are saints, as is the same with campers, but we have been to sites where A holes think it's OK to kick balls and through frizbees around near vans and cars. I want to go away and chill, not worry about my van or car being damaged, same as with you and your tent.

Thanks Elty. Just back from both of the lanes you suggested. Really enjoyed it. Filmed it all on gopro and dash cam so I'll edit it up and let you all see it.
Also filmed driving around the campsite so I'll put that up too. Cheers again.
Ian.
Glad you enjoyed them:thumb2
Looking forward to seeing the vids.

Hi guys. Sorry it took so long but I have here a vid of the lanes Elty told me about in the peaks. Only tame lanes and a mishap with the dash cam meant the only footage I had is courtesy of my girls with my gopro. Also apologies for the music as it would fit better if we were flat out getting some air! But after the amount of time it had taken to edit, all I needed was sleep!
