Hi all,
Well completely by chance whilst looking for a road biased 4x4 for the wife we stabled across a Nissan Murano, big petrol engine, but already converted to run on LPG :D

We picked her up yesterday, very impressed with the drive.

So we've now accidentally got 2 different nissan 4x4's!!

Anyone else got 2 different? If so what's your combo??

Ours now:
Nissan terrano - for load lugging, carrying building materials, towing the trailer tent and my commute to work

Nissan Murano - for family duties, long journeys and when we want to get from a-b quickly.

Nice I looked at those a while ago and at the time thought they were a bit heavy on the Juice:lol

Then we got the a6 Allroad 2.7T I'm not sure what the logic was behind that;

So Day to Day Audi A6 AllRoad 2.7T Auto

My Toy 1997 LWB Y60 4.2 Auto petrol.

Oddly enough we looked at one of these with an LPG conversion as I know someone who had one and was very pleased with it. However I had two issues one its a big vehicle for a CVT drive system (we only looked at automatics) but then realised that you can't take an LPG vehicle on the Shuttle to France for our booze run.
They did not import this model for very long and as a result parts prices from Nissan are very expensive with not a lot of aftermaket options as with more popular models. That said the specification and drive is brilliant will be interested to hear how you find it long term as I always notice them on the road.

Cheers guys, I'll keep u updated on how we get on.

I'm expecting parts to be a bit expensive, but hopefully it will be fairly reliable, fingers crossed.

Only negative so far are the high tax band ( doesn't hurt so much now you can pay by direct debit)

Sadly we now have to say goodbye to our beloved alfa 156 :(
£995 if anyone's interested, it's only done 77k I can email pics and details if anyone's interested. Silver with red leather.

Is your's an automatic ?
Never seen CVT on anything above 2 litres before so not sure how it copes long term with the extra power output of a large engine. That said CVT was originally a DAF design (Variomatic) that was awful (You had to start them in gear !) and the patent was sold to the Japanese who sorted it to become one of hte most fuel efficient units for small engined cars.

Yes they're all the 3.5v6 with cvt gearboxes,
No reported problems with the cvt box other than a couple of belt failures in the US early on before they started selling them in the uk.

Hopefully will be ok, according to a bloke at work they're now using cvts for majority of hybrids cos they handle the large torque better? not sure how correct that is! Lol

Apparently the 3.5v6 is the same engine nissan use in the 350z, retuned for use in the Murano, I just wonder if they wound the power down because of the gearbox? Possibility.

Yes I recall James May liked it.
It's not that surprising that they like it though, it's a 3.5 v6 petrol!

I note there's no murano section of the technical forum, perhaps I should request one and I'll be all alone?

pretty rare, suppose Nissan's take on BMW X5.

wouldnt mind finding a petrol pathfinder of current style.

v6 4.0 soon deleted guess didnt sell, but might be fun lpg'ed.
recall in states they had squeezed a v8, maybe 5.3 from titan pickup
into one.....

or could look at forced induction on v6....maybe not with lpg?

Nice looking motor and it drives so much better than our Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ series).
I am still wondering what else I could do to the Jeep to fix the ride.

It's great in a ploughed field and great on the motorways it's just everything in between that lets it down. I guess that's why they are cheapish on the used market.
That said it has done 2,000 miles since March without any problems but that's hardly a record.

First time the 2 had been on the drive next to each other, this answered my question of whether I could swap the t2 for a patrol and still fit them on the drive next to each other :doh:doh pretty bloody tight as it is!

I promised I would report on how we get on with the Murano, I can confirm:
1. we like it
2. Goes like stink
3. Does 20mpg round town
4. Does 30mpg sat at 70(ish) on the motorway
5. Because it's on LPG it's effectively doing 40mpg round town and 60mpg on May
6. It's bizarre to be accelerating in a car with your revs stood dead still
7. I'll never love it as much as the t2 because it's just not as fun, it's too easy and you feel quite removed from the experience.

Just my opinions, others may see things differently obviously! :)
