About 3 years ago i had all my photography stuff stolen out of the truck, at the time i had cancelled the insurance on the gear as we were short of money and it saved us a few quid, anyway the other day i was paid some money i've been owed for some time now and decided i would start replacing my gear, so i bought myself this

Nice one :thumb2

My present to myself two Christmas's ago was a Canon EOS 700D kit and a prime 50mm fixed lens. This Christmas I bought a SP 70-300mm f4-5.6 Di VC USD Lens and a Speedlite 430EX II Flashgun.

Next Christmas I am hoping I will buy myself a Tamron SP AF150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD Lens, may have to get a Gimbal Tripod Head for that though. :clap

It's a few years back now I bought a Canon EOS 40D with Canon EFS 17-85 lens to replace my old 35 mm Camera. Last year bought a slightly used Canon 55-200 lens for it that I have never used.

Trouble is I tend to use my Mobile or my Canon SX170IS compact as it fits in my pocket easily.

Never have taken my 40D on holiday as it's so much trouble to carry about ! Tend to use the 40D for family gatherings etc and use the remote control. I suspect it's an old bloke gadget thing to want to own a decent SLR and then find it does not get the use it deserves. When I was younger I could not afford a decent camera but would have used it more I am sure.

I think the Russian camera was a Zenith, at that time I had a Pracktica Super TL
With through the lens metering.
Later on I progressed to the Olympus OM20, still got that one, a few digital cameras, and then when our first grand child was born, a Nikon D3100

We were paid £20 to take this away.
We used Tesco clubcard points to cover the total cost, at the same time, Nikon were offering £20 cash back.
