Hi Guys,

I have been a member for a little while now but never got around to introducing myself.

I bought a 1994 2.4 3dr Mav and was having a great time until I had to pop to Iraq a few months ago.

The car has a few of the foibles listed in the forums and I was looking forward to sorting them when I get back, (noteably the gearbox whine). However, whilst I have been away my wife has lost the only key I got with it!

She is trying to find the key number to get a replacement but no joy yet. I can't do much until i'm back but was wondering if you may have any ideas that don't involve replacing every lock and ignition before severing an arm or two to pay for it?

Failing that, anyone after a Mav for spares etc?

Hi and Welcome,

Sure someone will come up with something on the lock front.

If I were you I'd take the Reg. No. and Chassis Number to Mr Ford, they may have a record of the key details and be able to sort one out for you.

Hi BigH & welcome to the club 8) TBH it might work out cheaper to fit a secondhand lock set & it should only take you a couple of hours max taking your time to do

Hi and Welcome aboard.

Older Nissans used to have stickers in the glove box with key numbers on. Also check any service books that are with the motor.

Wives loose keys in funny places well here are some where my wife lost them, lets start a thread on places they could be.

1 In one of her many handbags.
2 In a coat pocket she seldom wears.
3 In the salad compartment of the fridge.
4 In the car, in the boot next to where the shopping came from.
5 In the drawer next to where you normally keep them.
6 Down the side of the settee.
7 In the bed side drawer.
8 In the airing cupboard.
9 Behind the telly
10 Under the furniture, chair, bed cupboard.

Here's my starter for 10.
It may help you never know !

HI bri here, whilst my nissan was parked at Glasgow airport and we were visiting Malta our keys were stolen, the AA broke into the car and the key number was written in the vehicle hand book which was in the glove box.
He then took me to the Nissan dealers and they cut me one ..... so day and the holiday was saved! Look for your key number in the car... good luck.

Hi All,
Many thanks for the quick replies. Some of those lost places were quite amusing but only because I have done that with various keys in the past!

I didn't think of checking the service book but will get her to do that, hopefully she can get a new key before I come home otherwise i'll end up paying instead of her......but then again that may be her plan!

Mmmm..New wife, now where did I put that Thai Bride catalogue?

I'll let you all know how I get on.
Thanks again.
