Hi all, have only just had the terrano 2 1999 se touring 2.7 td, it has quite a loud chattering noise on tickover but when you press the clutch it stops, has anyone out there any idea, It has done 65k, many thanks, Tony.

It's an issue with the Terrano Gearbox, not exactly sure what, but I am sure Rick, or someone will be along to tell you exactly what at some point later. I think it is a case of they brought out a new level of gearbox oil, GL4 or something, and if it was used in the gear box, it killed the bearings, which is why you must only put GL3 in the T2.
Mine has done 20K miles with it doing it, and apart from being very stiff to get into first and second on cold mornings, is still going strong.
You will also find, if you push or pull the gear stick towards one of the gears, with out actually sticking it in of course, while not pushing the clutch down, it will also silence it.

Thanks for that, live in Stoke so not far away, it's gone in for other tlc for a couple of days, a good start to ownership eh
