Morning all, yesterday a colleague recommended that I get some Stp oil treatment for the ka as she does knock a little bit (tappets still to be adjusted) I am changing the oil tomorrow morning so I will be adding this Stp too.

Has anyone used this stuff before? Can anyone give it a good review? :nenau

I adjusted the tappets on a friends KA before and 2 months later there were the same again :doh

Tell her to just live with it, they are very noisy engines!!!!

STP oil treatment is very good stuff and will reduce any engine noise

As I was told by a Vauxhall dealer (re my 1973 1256cc Viva) if it's noisy it's working, if it's quiet ....then it's not. How true!

You can also get Molyslip for engines, not sure on that either.

most additives are a complete waste of time, and even if they do work they will break down long before you next oil change, Rick

There are loads of oil treatments on the market Stp, Slick50 & i'm sure Molyslip also do one & heard mixed reviews on them all:augie going off the condition of your spark plugs the engine oil prob hasn't been changed for a while either (should be every 6K/6 months on these engines) just don't put 5w30 in it:doh 10w40 is what you need & the engine will love you:thumb2

Just put a good quality oil in there.
My daughters kak was very tappy, checked them when I changed the leaking rocker cover and they where spot on.
It sounded like an old talbot sunbeam but ran fine until she drove it without any water in it and cooked the head:doh

I've bought the recommended oil for it which is 5w30 ford oil. It's listed.

I nearly bought 10w40 but it's not correct :o
