Trip to Iceland

Towards the end of the month me and the missus are meeting up with some family and hiring a 4 wheel drive and going to Iceland.

Hopefully we will see the Northern lights :clap

You jammy thing:eek::thumb2 I'm very slim & don't weigh much can I climb in your suit case please as it's one place i've always wanted to go:augie oh you won't get any normal 4x4 as by law out there you have to have 35" tyres for most roads out of town & a min of 38" to go further a field or on glaciers:clap word of warning thou if your driving don't start spinning the tyres because if you do any damage to the road or glacier you've got to pay for it:doh:doh we used to have a member on here from Iceland with a nice modded trol with a laptop with GPS for finding his way around & a big satellite phone in case he had problems

Take LOTS of money with you.
Iceland is outrageously expensive, if it does not come out of the sea and has to be imported, expect to pay eye watering amounts of money for it, whatever it is.
Oh, and be sure to take your own booze.

I couldn't hire a 4x4 out there as you have to be 25 and I was 23 at the time :doh

We stayed in Reykjavik, I really didn't want to come back :(

A colleague just got back from a 2 week tour of iceland. Rented a 4x4, got a Dacia Duster. Never had any problem apparently, but of course he did not do any wild 4x4 stuff. I don't think you can go into the wilder parts of Iceland with a rental vehicle.

Ok so we are preparing now, leaving at 09:30 to the airport, meeting family that have flown in from Denmark, then off to Iceland.

I suspect we might get a bit of a blizzard from America as the storm there is not good, and it's blowing that way :eek:
