The front bumper is recommended by the AA and RAC, so when they come along to load it up, they just tie their hook onto it and hoist it onto the flat bed without any ramps.
The army use a similar system to load equipment pods and skips onto their army trucks.:thumb2

Judging by how reliable this truck is, :doh since Alex started modding it, the hook has become the best accessory on the vehicle.

Something that Alex should patent, and sell to Land Rover, save lots of time on recoveries.:thumb2

Well it passed it's MOT with it fitted & Alex hasn't been stopped by the Police for it & as it has a power winch fitted making it a winch bumper I think it is legal:augie Now then it's illegal to fit or have a metal A bar fitted to a motor after 2000/1 & how many members on this forum have them:augie:augie

Quite right, I can think of a few infact :thumb2

Regardless of bumper shape and size, if you hit little Timmy crossing the road chances are you will kill him, there is no real argument against that.

Yes I have been infront of and behind (and along side) many police car now, i must admit from the comments on here I have been quite twitchy, but not so much as a second glance from them.

On another note my terrano has not yet passed mot (feb time) :thumb2

Total tosh Alex :doh
Depends what hits Timmy and the speed it's going, a modern car is designed to deform when it hits Timmy, if it's doing 20 to 30 mph, chances are, Timmy would live.
Your tooth pick would take poor Timmy's head off at any speed :augie

Agreed but the comment above was mentioning about people on here putting the old style A bars into the more modern trucks, regardless of shape if you hit someone with that at any sort of real force it's not gonna be good. No different to mine :thumb2 also not to mention if the car wasn't manufactured with bull bars then that is technically illegal aswell.

Mine is classed as an equipment bumper because I have a winch built into em structural integrity of the bumper, a silly rule as it will also kill but means we are allowed to have winches.

Another example would be eltys truck, not sure if the winch petrudes, but if it does, what do you think will happen if you hit someone with that? :nenau

It's a bit pedantic of me I know, but if your gonna use terms get them right... :augie

For the hundredth time bud it's not classed as an "equipment bumper" :doh - adding the winch means that the law no longer views the bumper as a "bumper", it now views the bumper as a piece of equipment.

As far as the law is concerned your bumper has gone and has been replaced with a mount for your winch. That's why you get away with the bondage bars as it no longer counts as a bumper or frontal protection - it's now just a bit of equipment on your truck ie. a mount for your winch.

All the above is of course subject to the MOT man's view when the appropriate time comes but I know my Trol passed with its winch bumper back in March :nenau

Alex, your "bumper" may not be my cup of tea but it will pass an mot. Just so long as it's secure and has no sharp edges .
This one had an MOT on :thumbs

I think it is a little one sided here, little Timmy's parents should be training him not to get in front of moving vehicles, if he is going to do so then his life is at risk no mater what the speed or shape it takes, just an observation, Rick

TBH Alex is really getting some stick here for what could be or prob is legal to use, Alex get it MOT'ed & if the tester is happy with the bumper hopefully that'll be the end of this:rolleyes: But many have over looked what I wrote in post 9 about A bars being illegal if fitted to motors after 2000/1 yet many members have them fitted but not getting any stick for it which I think is unfair re-guarding what Alex is getting:doh
