Hi Barny.

Water in the footwell sounds easy and there are two usual culprits.

There is a black plasitc grill panel below the windscreen on the outside. Remove this and look down into the cavity and you will see a small rectangle shaped plate. Remove and reseal the plate with some kind of sealer.

Open the passenger door and look towards the front of the openning, you will see the bottom of the wing. Mud collects behind the plastic mud guard under the wing and lodges at the bottom corner allowing water to spill into the car through the door seal. Hose this out with water and do the same at the drivers side.

Have you noticed a drop in the level of coolant in the system? If not it can't be the heater matrix.

Oh and welcome...

It is possible that it is the Matrix but not as common as the two problems I mentioned. However have a llok at this http://nissan4x4ownersclub.co.uk/workshop/wk20.pdf
