Hi all

Im the proud owner of a 1997 maverick but the old girl needs a bit of tlc, Im after some advise on where to buy parts from.

I need a n/s/r light cluster. N/s center seat belt its grey but missing. It also has a whistle from the exhaust when revved past 2k rpm. Sounds like turbo it has play in the shaft too. Are terrano turbos the same as theirs a lot of them on ebay for sale.

Thanks

Hi dud welcome to the forum. You'll love it here, everyone is friendly and plenty of knowledge is available.

My terrano certainly had a turbo whistle but I am exhaustless so not the best person to ask. They are pretty bullet proof though. I believe all turbos are ug same (so long as it's for a 2.7 and not a 3.0) someone will confirm.

Got ne pics? :thumb2

Hello and Welcome

I'm your friendly club moderator, 1 of 3 in fact, this is a great community and I'm sure all of the guys will be along soon to welcome you as well.

If you pay your £10 membership fee, not only will you gain access to all of the workshop downloads, you will also be able to post in all of the other rooms as well and will receive unlimited help :thumb2

I know I may sound bias as a moderator but when I first joined up I paid my membership and save hundreds in the first few months alone in repair bills :clap

You will also get added to the spreadsheet for forum discount from Milner 4x4 Parts in Matlock, Derby
http://www.milneroffroad.com/

You will then get 10% off all orders apart from engines and gearboxes

Don't go down the turbo route, get under the car and you will find that it's your front centre pipe flexi has worn into a hole making the turbo audible.

New downpipe is around £40 and can be fitted yourself easily (don't forget the gaskets)

As for the other stuff you'd be better with a breaker, we have 2 on here, join up and you'll be able to contact them via the PM system they are cncfabs and terranobreakershropshire

I'll shut up now

Hi and welcome, there are a couple of guys on here who break Terrano's and Mavericks who are very good for all the bits you need.

As far as I know, there are a couple of turbo's, depending on if you have the intercooler or not.

Normally, turbo whistle is related to the flexy joint on the front downpipe leaking.

Welcome:thumb2 as said become a full member & you won't regret it one bit as you can then get on other sections of the forum like the how to's:augie Turbo's on these trucks are really good & rarely fail & a little play can be normal depending on which direction the play is in. Turbo whistle can be caused by a few things like an air leak in a pipe or even the type of front pipe which has been fitted, mine whistles as it's a single box exhaust system but the turbo is fine & so it should be as it's only done 58K

Hi and welcome, the Mave have some little differences, so first off is it a TDi? (intercooler) on top of the engine, next is it a Bosch or Zexel pump? best way to tell is the maf, if it is Zexel it will have a Hitachi one, seat belt I can help with PM me once you have done your tenner, more discussion needed re the turbo, Rick

It has a tmic will check what mafs on it tomorrow and get back to you. It has lateral and vertical play in the shaft bearing, I was going to undo the downpipe as well as service this week and see if the noise was still there fingers crossed it is just the down pipe, it looks like its has a new system put on recently.

You'll be pleased to know ive just paid the membership fee :D. Will upload some pictures next week after ive compounded her.

Cheers for the advice and welcomes

Woohoo go for it :thumbs

Take not of the steering stops too, get some grease blobbed on them. They grind like hell when on full lock if you dont.
