Cool, so basically, Ive done the rear shockies yesterday, which went ok.

Im at work tomorrow, and I quite fancy doing the front shockies myself, didnt really want to hassle the tech unless I have to.

Can someone just give me a quick list of what i need to do to remove em (in theory)

1) Jack up front of car??
2) remove wheels?
3) remove top and bottom mounts of shockies (one at a time)?
4) fit new shockies
5) drive off into sunset? :augie

I only have 4 hours you see, and bare in mind im looking after the service department by myself... :doh

the more info you can spare would be lovely :kissy

Get out and spray them with rust ease or similar penetrating oil NOW !
The bottom bolt can be a right bitch if it's rusted in. Use a good fitting socket and work the nut and bolt but watch for the steel bending
Oh and don't let go of the shocker string till you're ready to fit, and then don't be gay with it :)

Shocks are often held closed with a piece of string or wire .

Cheers for the comments all :thumb2

I've been spraying em with rostoff since Tuesday so hopefully they will come undone easily.

Do I need to worry about jacking at certain points? And will it sag once i remove the shockie?

And lastly, what bit of metal can twist? :nenau

The shock mount on bottom arm. It's just the bolt tends to meld itself to the bkt ;)

Aye just one bolt and nut at the bottom and one nut at the top. Simple as :D
Just take the wheel off and all will become clear. You can also look at the manual http://f9x.co.uk/briggie/workshop.html

If your doing it at work Alex you'll have the ramps, tools & the very big hot spanner all at hand plus the odd mechanic at hand if you get stuck:thumbs

Well this is true, just didn't want to lure him into more work on my truck, he's done so much for me so far.

And also coz I'm on a time limit didn't want to leave myself stranded :thumb2

You shouldn't have booked in so much work for the day then you could have had a ramp free all day for your truck:augie surely they'll let you stop back an hour or 2 if it was needed to get your truck finished

There is nothing booked in atall, but we are 8-12 tomorrow and the tech will be prepping new sales cars ect.

I will have a ramp free, and the othe techs tell me wepphr will likely step in n help if I start making a mess of it :lol

One of em told me to keep dropping my spanner and he wont be able to help himself :augie :lol

Glad i just watched that video about the spinning. I'd have been there for hours! I take it you need to grip the shock when undoing too? :nenau

Of course I'm going to tackle it, but you see why I am doing the research no?

I wont be having time to get things wrong and also I'm not familiar with most tools, anything after a spanner and ratchet is new to me :thumb2
