Hi all,
I have a damsel in distress, her passenger front window will not respond to buttons:eek:
It started with the button on the door, window would go down but not up, drivers door switch worked AOK, today window now dead 50 mm open, this happened around 9PM, she is a mobile carer for housebound elderly persons, luckinly not on duty for a few days
Other buttons on drivers door work AOK
I suggested trying to move window while pushing button, nothing happens no motor sounds either
Anyone any ideas where to start looking:bow:bow
HELP
im no expert ( far from it :o ) , but I guess taking the door card off to take a look might be usefull ......
I had a n/s/r window not working. I removed the door panel and then checked for voltage at the connector for the motor. I had power, so out of interest I undid the four screws that hold the motor armature casing to see if the motor was seized. It did turn it OK, but noticed at the bottom of the case where the armature locates was dry, I greased it, reassembled and it is now working OK. Probberly different setup motor wise with the Getz, but I would test for voltage at the motor first.

Worst case see if you can man handle the window up and then leave it alone until you have time to investigate. :thumb2

Window will not move manually
I will remove the card in daylight to check electrics
So if I have this right...:nenau
Passenger door window switch failed, but driver's switch for that window worked ok to both open it and then close it.
Then Driver's door switch for the passenger window wouldn't work either
If this is the case, I would suspect a wiring or connector issue, and not the door window motor.
So, my first call have a look at the passenger switch, then the driver's door switch, and all the associated wiring and connectors in between.
Try opening / closing front doors at the same time as trying the window switches... Could be a broken wire or faulty connector.
Does the vehicle have an override switch that stops the windows being messed with, like the Terrano has? if so look there too.
Edit:- Just thinking...
There must be some form of wiring interlock to prevent one person closing the window, and the driver, opening it at the same time, otherwise the motor won't know what to do or a fuse will blow...so that leads my thoughts to a faulty switch on the passenger door... or maybe driver's door, which one is normally used most?...
Hope it helps...
best regards,
