parking/waiting near Birmingham Airport

hi,

got a pick up to friends due in at 02:10 Monday am, yuk indeed.

just found that their flight last time it operated was a good 35 mins early.

looking for somewhere to park up til i new they are ready.

the pick up area is a quid for 10 minutes so clearly need to be there as little
time as possible.

thinking along B4438 or around international station?

I have stopped at the Birmingham International railway station many times, you are only a few minutes away.
I think you can park for free for a while.

An alternative, as you approach Birmingham, airport, at the last roundabout ( or the one before?) before the point of no return... where it will cost you a £1 if you go any further, the long stay car park is on the first exit, airport second exit, so take third exit...
I think, then at the next roundabout or so... there are some closed gates on the outskirts of the NEC I have parked on this area, having a bit of banter with the taxi drivers doing the same thing...

I am not totally sure, but you are heading towards the NEC and you will see the area with the gates on the left...

Then to save the £1 you get your passenger to walk to the long stay, and pick him/her up on the left before the one way system...


And I thought it was just me who was tight lol...:lol:lol


If all else fails, just use the short stay car park, which bears off to the right before the £1 for 10 minutes area...

This is what mobile phones are for. Just call em when they're off the plane, obv they will turn it on when plane lands. Then plan accordingly. Take a fiver for parking :lol

Bloody airport rip off merchants, it annoys me when they charge you to drive into the airport, let alone stop and park.
Should be a law against it.

thanks for ideas, in end wasnt needed, they ha to wait for me.

booked arrival 0210, friend said clearing customs would take til 0300


I spotted on web last time the flight operated was 30 early and told him.

he queried with crew to be told, no way 10 early at most.

so was working towards 0245 into pickup point.

in flight captain says we'll be 30 early.... and cleared customs in about 20 mins.

he rings me to say landed, I'm only on M1 J28 !

he rings to say read and I'm only at Tamworth.

Still for me only took 3 hours home-BHX-home, and just a quid in car park.
